We offer these two examples of data storage scheme in order to illustrate the interrelationship between data structure, storage requirement, and the types of operations to be performed. The specific data structure and data manipulation techniques to be used should always be tailored to the structure of the matrix and the requirement of the application. In point of fact both schemes I and II can be modified to overcome some of the stated deficiencies. Gustavson (G9) discussed modifications of scheme I to permit both row- and column-oriented operations and to accommodate fill-ins ... [Pg.167]

Gustavson et al. (2000) developed a convenient and novel solid phase extraction (SPE) method for the removal of methyl oleate from SPMD dialysates containing PAHs. A small SPE column (1 g or 0.5 g) containing a dual-zone silica (normal phase)-based restricted-access sorbent (Diazem, Midland, MI, USA) is used for the separation. The capacity of this sorbent to remove methyl oleate is about 1.8% (lipid/sorbent wt wt ). The PAHs are eluted with 19 mL of hexane and methylene chloride (97 3 VV ) and recoveries of all PAHs are typically >72%. [Pg.112]

The complex formation of aromatic hydrocarbons with Lewis acids in the presence of hydrogen halide and the colour of the so-called red oils associated with this is the oldest observation which indicates that the interaction is connected with a pronounced effect on the electronic structure of the aromatic hydrocarbons (Gustavson, 1878, 1890, 1903, 1905). [Pg.222]
