Guard machine cleaning

Static dissipative grades covers, guards, access panels, machine windows and doors, static control shields, glove boxes, electronic equipment, process instrumentation, conveyor line covers, clean room windows and doors, partitions and pass through modules... 

Guards and guard devices may not provide enough protection for all the operations and activities involved in the use, maintenance, cleaning and repair of machines and tools. Several safeguarding procedures will help prevent accidents from occurring. Remember, procedures do not remove hazards. 

Those involved in work that is not part of normal operations, such as maintenance and cleaning of machines and equipment, must learn special safety techniques. Maintenance and cleaning may require removal of guards or testing machine performance. The workers may need to implement lockout and tagout procedures, but certain tasks require machine operation. These workers may have exposure to hazards during normal operations. 

Hoistways, machine rooms, pits, and overhead areas must be kept clean, and all equipment must be regularly maintained and inspected. In order to prevent trips and falls, handrails, gates, alarms, and guards are necessary around landings, elevator doors, and hoistway doors and gates. Emergency elevator evacuation procedures must be developed and communicated to personnel. 

Interlocking guards allow ready access while ensming the safety of the operator. However, there are circumstances that may require the machine to be moved when the guard is open, i.e. for setting, cleaning, removing... 

Before mounting the grinding wheel, the speed of the machine shall be checked to ensure that it does not exceed the maximum operating speed marked on the grinding wheel. Safety guards shall be adjusted to allow maximum protection for the grinding wheel operator. Grinding wheels shall be stored in a clean and dry location.
