Guaran Chemical

In no case is one of these galactomannans available and used as a pure polysaccharide. Rather they are the ground endosperm of the seeds of the plant from which they are obtained. As a result, the commercial gums also contain fiber, protein, ash, and other constituents. As already indicated, the polysaccharide present in guar gum is called guaran. Chemical names have not been given to the other galactomannans. [Pg.1520]

The electrochemical protection of chemical plants is a question of customizing and therefore no universally applicable cost data can be established. Since chemical equipment and the materials used in its construction are proportionately more expensive and frequently other protection methods give no absolute guaran-... [Pg.502]

Notwithstanding the chemical differences (alcohol groups in guaran, carboxyl groups in xanthan, and partially esterified carboxyl groups in pectin) these three polysaccharides in combination with chitosan in the microspheres appear to be able to bring chitosan into solution. This is particularly interesting if one considers the solubility of these three polysaccharides in water and their important applications in the food and pharmaceutical industries. [Pg.179]

Due to the capacity of sediments to store and immobilize toxic chemicals in so-called chemical sinks , direct effects of pollution may not be directly manifested. This positive function of sediments does not guaran-... [Pg.150]

Chemically the polysaccharide, called guaran, is a (1 4) linked D-marmopyianosyl backbone with single D-galactopyranosyl branches attached by (1 6)... [Pg.195]

Guaran gum crosslinked with divinylsulphone yielded gels with good flow properties and chemical stability. The support was used to purify lectins... [Pg.549]
