Separations group

Diketones. y-Diketones contain two carbonyl groups separated by two carbon atoms. With the exception of 2,5-hexanedione which is a high boiling Hquid, 1,4-diketones ate low melting white soHds with only faint odors. Lower members are soluble in organic solvents and water. Properties of representative 1,4-diketones are shown in Table 14. [Pg.499]

In the equation-oriented approach, the executive organizes the equations and controls a general-purpose equation solver. The equations for material and energy balances may be grouped separately from those for the calculation of physical properties or phase equiHbria, or as ia the design of some simulators, the distinction between these groups of equations may disappear completely. [Pg.74]

Annunciator panels should be in a central location with alarm annunciators and shutdown annunciators grouped separately. The first alarm and the first shut-down normally sound a horn and are annunciated. This is called first-out indication. Subsequent shutdown or alarm signals received by the panel are either not annunciated or are annunciated in a different manner so that the operator can determine the initiating cause of the process upset. [Pg.406]

This procedure also applies to the case when two double bonds are present with only a CH2 group separating them. (Not all cases have been examined.)... [Pg.64]

For the same reason it is also possible to use Over Pressure Layer Chromatography (OPLC) on-line for prefractionation or as a clean-up method for HPLC [13,14] A group separation according to polarity is followed by a differentiation of the substances according to their differing lipophilicities (Fig. 5). [Pg.10]

Each of the steric numbers described in Sections 94 and 94 results in electron groups separated by well-defined bond angles. If the VSEPR model is accurate, the actual bond angles found by experimental measurements on real molecules should match the optimal angles predicted by applying the model. [Pg.631]

As an example of the capabilities of a combination of INAA and RNAA using a two group separation scheme for the simultaneous determination of As, Cd, Cu, Mo, Sb, Hg, and Se (Kucera and Soukal 1993), and a single separation procedure for vanadium determination (Byrne and Kucera 1991), Table 3.8 shows results for NIST-SRM-i573a Tomato Leaves that were obtained prior to certification of this material (Kucera 1995), and later on taken into consideration for deriving the NIST certified and information values (Becker 1995, personal communication). [Pg.70]

Coulometric titration. For this technique, often designated controlled-current or amperostatic coulometry, it is useful to distinguish between redox, complex-formation and precipitation titrations on the one hand and acid-base titrations on the other and to discuss each group separately. [Pg.310]

Metal salicylates are occasionally incorporated into mixtures of unknowns for qualitative inorganic analysis. During the conventional group separation, organic radicals are removed by evaporation with nitric acid. When salicylates are present, this can lead to formation of trinitrophenol through nitration and decarboxylation. This may react with any heavy metal ions present to form unstable or explosive picrates, if the evaporation is taken to dryness. The MAQA alternative scheme of analysis obviates this danger. [Pg.1590]

Figure 6 shows the importance of having separate exclusion distances for neighboring and non-neighboring fluorines. The neighbor fluorine exclusion is the main determinant of overall chain dimensions, serving to keep phenyl groups separated in the same manner as dyad statistics would have done. [Pg.286]

Pab is the mutual concentration of reactive groups separated by a chain of v bonds, assuming the chain obeys Gaussian statistics. [Pg.381]

We were concerned that synthesis of a,6-dialkoxyethyl complexes 16 and 17 would be limited by overreduction of 13 and 14. Both appended a-alkoxyethyl (30,63) and 6-alkoxyethyl (16,64) groups separately undergo facile reductive cleavage to ethyl ligands. Model studies were accordingly carried out in order to first establish conditions favoring generation of 6-alkoxyethyl and a-alkoxyethyl compounds via monohydridic reduction of suitable substrates. [Pg.291]
