Jade green

For red yes, sore throat, or ulceration of the mouth and tongue, add Pulvis Indigonis (QingDai). This results in Bi Yu San (Green Jade Powder). [Pg.69]

It is a valuable dyestuffs intermediate. When fused with KOH, two molecules of benz-anthrone combine at the positions marked above to give a dibenzanthrone which is in itself a vat dye. Also used as an intermediate for the preparation of the valuable Caledon Jade Green. [Pg.55]

Beneath the Chamber of the Desirous Quest is the Hall of the Red Lion, corresponding to Netzach. It has an emerald altar, walls of jade, and a floor of malachite and copper tiles. Seven pillars, three of green marble, three of amber and one of scarlet, support the jade dome that is carved with leaves to resemble a forest canopy. The throne in the east is of coral. The tarot tapestries are X, XIII, XVI, XVII, and XVIII. The chamberlain of this hall is usually connected with the Lordly Ones, the Elven folk from under the hollow hills—perhaps even the elfin queen from the enchanted forest of Brolicade. [Pg.185]

Other Synthetic Materials. Many other natural gemstone materials have been duplicated in the laboratory on an experimental basis, often only in small sizes. Examples include tourmaline [1317-93-7], topaz [1302-59-6], and zircon [1490-68-2]. Of some potential is synthetic jadeite [12003-54-2], one of the two forms of jade. This crystallizes under medium pressure in polycrystalline form from an NaAlS Og glass (qv) and can be colored green by Fe or lavender by Mn (16). Many gemstone-like materials have been grown for technological purposes and such material is sometimes faceted. [Pg.218]

Color fastness is important in textiles. It is a measure of how well the dye is attached to fabric (substrate). In the early 1900s a new class of coal-tar dyes, known as the indanthrenes, was invented. Some blue indanthrenes displaced indigo, because they were fester to light and washing, and brighter. The most important of these colorants, collectively known as vat dyes, is vat jade green. [Pg.28]

Jade is the common name for gem-quality specimens of two distinctly different mineral species, jadeite and the massive variety of actinolite, called nephrite. The word jade is derived from the Spanish piedra deyjada, meaning stone of the flank. This refers to its popular use as a cure for diseases of the kidneys and liver. Other minerals that have been mistaken for jade, or used as jade imitations include green jasper (quartz), vesuvian (idocrase), massive grossular garnet, chloromelanite (a mixture of dark pyroxenes) (Table 2.10). [Pg.39]

The alkyl ethers of phenols, naphthols and hydroxyanthraquinones can be prepared, in many cases, by treatment of the halogen compounds with alcoholates at high temperature under pressure (e.g., anisole, page 97). Of course, the phenols themselves can be etherified (cf., page 148), and the cheaper method is used in each case. The dialkyl sulfates serve as active alkylating reagents in certain instances, as in the preparation of Caledon jade green (dimethoxydibenzanthrone). [Pg.19]

The compound is not, itself, used as a vat dye but is important because, when it is fused with caustic potash 2 molecules unite, yielding dibenz-anthrone, (23), from which many vat dyes are derived, the best known example being Caledon Jade Green 3B (C.I. vat green 4), (24). [Pg.482]

In order to check the technique of testing in different laboratories the following standard has been specified. A 40/2 bleached cotton yam is dyed by Method 1 with 5 per cent of Caledon Jade Green XNS Paste Fine. It should give the following results ... [Pg.495]

She heard a chuckle and whirled around. The man just appeared out of the tree standing on the other side of the road from the ditch. Literally out of it. Bark lines faded from his body to reveal the most curious green tunic. Arms of jade silk, a jacket of lime wool, big brass buttons down the front, and a ridiculous pointed felt hat sprouting a couple of white feathers. [Pg.23]

The A. eriantha fruit are long and cylindrical. The fruit surface is densely covered with white villose. They have easily peeled skin, and the flesh is jade green. Although A. eriantha fruit are typically tart and not so palatable, a new cultivar, Bidan, which was developed quite recently in Korea, is reportedly sweet (Jo et al, 2007a). [Pg.299]
