Granular sampling

This in particular means that at large conductances the 3D system is a good metal. On the other hand, at g 1 a granular sample is in the insulating state. Therefore a 3D system should exhibit a metal-insulator transition at the critical value of the conductance gr, such that samples with conductances gT > gt are metals and their conductivity remains finite at T — 0 while samples with gT < g% are insulators and their conductivity vanishes at T —> 0. [Pg.29]

Procedure This procedure applies to both powdered and granular sample. A representative sample of powdered sample may need additional grinding until 60 wt % (or more) passes through a 325-mesh screen and 95 wt % (or more) passes through a 100-mesh screen. Grind a representative sample sufficiently to pass through the screens as described above. Dry the ground sample, and cool to room temperature in a desiccator. [Pg.95]

The sorptive NO removal was carried out in a conventional flow system at atmospheric pressure. Gas mixtures of 0.08 vol% NO and 10% O2, balanced with He were fed to the granular sample (0.2 g) at W/F=0.24 s-g-cm. The effluent gas was analyzed by an on-line gas chromatography (TCD) with molecular sieve-5A and Porapak-Q columns, and a chemiluminescence NOx analyzer. [Pg.856]

In the case of monolithic catalysts, the ESR spectra present the same aspect as the granular samples. The copper is absorbed in the lattice under two forms which according to the literatura data would be Cu2+ and Cu. The number of spins is larger in the case of Cu-ZSM-5 sample with the copper content of 0.6 wt % than in the case of Cu-ZSM-5 with the copper content of 0.4 wt %. This fact is... [Pg.694]

The reduction study with hydrogen of the monolithic catalysts imder the same reduction conditions as for granular samples shows that in this case there is only a single reduction step at high temperature (910°C). After reduction a specific ESR signal appears for copper only in the Cu-ZSM-5 sample with the copper content of 0.6 wt %. This fact indicates that the amoimt of unreducible copper is large in this catalyst. [Pg.695]

Specific area for pyridine of 29 it can be estimated that the amount of surface covered by the pyridine is 11 m /g-l or 5% of a monolayer. Similar coverages exist for the n-butyl amine. Operating under a dry nitrogen atmosphere the granular sample was packed into an aluminum oxide NMR rotor. [Pg.224]

Maltese and co-workers [2] describe a GC procedure for determining moisture in polypropylene in which water was removed from the polymer in vacuo (molten sample), or in a stream of dry nitrogen at a pressure of 400 Pa (granular sample), and was then determined by Karl Fischer titration. [Pg.333]

The acidity of the solutions in which 50 mg and 500 mg of H-alg. prepared using IN HCl was immersed in 50 ml of water were pH 3.3 and pH 2.7, respectively, but for fresh H-alg. the pH was 4.2-4.5. The granular sample was washed with water until the rinsing no longer gave a chloride ion reaction in the preparation, although it showed some evidence of the presence of Cl". [Pg.420]

Results obtained from polarized neutron reflection measurements have been reported on granular samples consisting of Fe particles in an AI2O3 matrix. However, this experiment deals with surface studies and is not well adapted to the analysis of fine particle properties. Nevertheless, some features can be deduced. [Pg.452]

The compaction curve analysis described in this paper originates in the ceramics literature [1]. It is a method of plotting force-displacement data obtained during a uniaxial compaction test. The granular sample is loaded into a cylindrical punch and die set and compressed using a mechanical testing machine. The measured force data are converted to pressure and are... [Pg.117]

Granular sampling employs a granulator mechanism that extracts small portions of a sampled sound and applies an envelope to them. The granulator may produce the grains in... [Pg.103]

A very powerful method to visualize index-matched particles uses fluorescent dyes and a laser sheet to illuminate a 2D cross section of a granular sample [238-243]. A schematic of the technique is shown on the left of Figure 2.6. Since the particles are index matched the light passes through without refraction and the laser sheet illuminates only a thin section of the sample. In the approximately... [Pg.48]

The monomer, butyl acrylate (BA), was purchased from SRL India Ltd and sodium silicate (SS) was a gift of a solid granular sample (CAS 1344-098, Batch No. 2023BB H20-1) from PQ Corporation, Maastricht, The Netherlands. Copper sulfate, glycine and ammonium persulfate (APS) were of analytical grade and used as such. All solutions were prepared using doubly distilled water. [Pg.127]
