Graft copolymerization advantages

There are a considerable number of methods available for effecting graft copolymerization onto preformed polymers, each with its own particular advantages and disadvantages. 

A number of methods have been used to prepare graft copolymers in the past few decades including both conventional chemical and radiation-chemical methods [20,86,87]. In the latter case, graft copolymerization is usually initiated by creating active radical sites on existing polymer chains. Microwave radiation is another important energy source and is emerging as an effective tool for graft copolymerization. Microwave radiations have an advantage of instantaneous in core processing of reactants in homogeneous manner. Microwave radiations can rapidly transfer the energy into hulk of reaction mixture, which results in the rapid interaction of the material in the reaction mixture [11,22]. 

Simultaneous Mixing or Reacting. One of the advantages of the proposed nomenclature is the preservation of the time sequence of polymer reactions. Examples include grafting reactions and interpenetrating polymer networks. In some cases, like the blends or random copolymerization, the time sequence has no meaning.
