Graffiti

In comparison with epoxies, the correctly formulated urethane can possess considerably superior gloss retention and flexibility. They also form a film so hard and solvent resistant that they can be used as anti-graffiti coating. The graffiti can be removed with solvent without damaging the urethane. Since these materials give off toxic fumes in a fire it is preferable that they are not used in confined spaces. [Pg.130]

It is claimed that the cured film has similar properties and durability to the two-pack urethane. It also is used as an anti-graffiti finish. [Pg.130]

On the basis of written descriptions (24, 29, 30), photographs (23, 24, 30), and physical evidence, the evolution of the tomb s condition as a function of time can be traced. Preliminary progress in this direction has been made (28). There is no evidence of smoke deposits on the walls, a fact that implies that the tomb was never inhabited. The complete absence of any Coptic or Arabic graffiti suggests that the tomb was not often visited at the time when many Egyptian tombs underwent particularly pronounced deterioration be-... [Pg.287]

N-Methylpyrrolidone (NMP) is used as an extraction solvent in the petrochemical industry, as a paint stripper in occupational (e.g., graffiti removal) and consumer (e.g., furniture) settings, as a solvent in the microelectronics industry, and as a chemical reaction medium. NMP enhances the penetration of topically applied pharmaceuticals and is used as a formulating agent in pigments, dyes, inks, and pesticides. It has been used increasingly as a replacement for chlorinated solvents that may pose a greater health risk. [Pg.1836]

NMP is a liquid under normal environmental conditions. Due to its low vapor pressure, human exposures are primarily limited to dermal contact. Significant inhalation exposures to NMP are possible during applications that generate NMP aerosols (e.g., graffiti removal) or vapors (e.g., unventilated cleaning baths of heated NMP). Due to its complete miscibility in water, NMP vapor concentrations in the atmosphere are limited by the relative humidity, ranging from Oppm (100% relative humidity) to 315 ppm (0% relative humidity). [Pg.1836]
