The first studies of dendrimer-encapsulated metal nanoparticles focused on Cu [82]. This is because Cu + complexes with PAMAM and PPI dendrimers are very well behaved and have easily interpretable UV-vis and EPR spectra. For example, Fig. 4a shows absorption spectra for Cu + coordinated to different ligands. In the absence of dendrimer and in aqueous solutions Cu + exists primarily as [Cu(H20)g] +, which gives rise to a broad, weak absorption band centered at 810 nm. This corresponds to the well-known d-d transition for Cu in a tetra-gonally distorted octahedral or square-planar ligand field. [Pg.96]

Dosage form Gonal-F is a sterile, lyophilized powder intended for subcutaneous injection after reconstitution with sterile water for injection. Each ampule contains recombinant FSH 37.5 lU, 75 lU, or 150lU. [Pg.229]

Route of administration Gonal-F is to be administered as a subcutaneous injection. [Pg.229]

Pharmacokinetics The absorption rate of Gonal-F following subcutaneous or intramuscular administration was found to be slower than the elimination rate. Hence the pharmacokinetics of Gonal-F are absorption rate-limited. After intravenous administration to pituitary down-regulated, healthy female volunteers, the serum profile of FSH appears to be described by a two-compartment open model with a distribution half-life of about 2 to 2.5 hours. Steady-state serum levels were reached after 4 to 5 days of daily administration. [Pg.230]

Disposition FSH metabolism following administration of Gonal-F has not been studied in humans. FSH renal clearance was 0.07 liter/h after intravenous administration representing approximately 1/8 of total clearance. [Pg.230]

Microcrystals exhibit properties distinctly different from those of bulk solids. The fractional change in lattice spacing has been found to increase with decreasing particle size in FejOj. Magnetic hyperfine fields in a-FejOj and FejO are lower in the microcrystalline phase compared to those of the bulk crystalline phases. The tetra-gonality (i.e. the departure of the axial ratio from unity) of ferroelectric BaTiOj decreases with decrease in particle size in PZT, the low-frequency dielectric constant decreases and the Curie temperature increases with decreasing particle size. The small particle size in microcrystals cannot apparently sustain low-frequency lattice vibrations. [Pg.149]
