Gonadotropin Release from Anterior Pituitary Cells

Gonadotropin Release from Anterior Pituitary Cells [Pg.338]

PURPOSE AND RATIONALE Anterior pituitaries may be incubated directly, kept in culture or used for cell lines (Mittler and Meites 1964, 1966 Mittler et al. 1970 Sandow et al. 1972) in order to study the synthesis and release of gonadotropins in response to LH-RH. [Pg.338]

For preparation of pituitary cells, there are several modifications which have been successfully applied, [Pg.338]

Several increasing concentrations of test preparation and LH-RH standard preparation are tested, dose-response curves are obtained allowing calculation of potency ratios with confidence limits. [Pg.338]

The method is suitable for studies of interaction with synthetic steroid hormones and endogenous compounds which are modulating the response to releasing hormones (pituitary feedback studies). [Pg.338]

Signal stimulating FSH release Gonadotropin releasing hormone from the hypothalamus binds to membrane receptors of the anterior pituitary cells, triggered phosphatidylinositol signaling to stimulate FSH production and release. [Pg.430]
