Gold trichloride

Gold thiosulfate complexes of the form Na2[Au(S202)2] 2H20 [19153-98-1] are prepared by addition of gold trichloride to concentrated sodium thiosulfate solution (89). The gold is completely reduced and some thiosulfate is oxidized to tetrathionate. This complex has been used in the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis. [Pg.32]

Daniel (Ref 1) stated that Vor fulminant deposits as a chamois (clear yel) powder on tteating gold trichloride with ammonia. The same method is listed by Davis on p 401, who also says that the method of prepn by Basil. Valentin succeeded because the sal ammoniac used for the prepn of the aqua regia supplied the necessary ammonia. If gold is dissolved in aqua regia prepd from nitric acid and common salt, and if. the soln is treated with K carbonate, the resulting ppt is not expl. FG loses its expl props if it is allowed to stand in contact with sulfur... [Pg.613]

Phillips and Timms [599] described a less general method. They converted germanium and silicon in alloys into hydrides and further into chlorides by contact with gold trichloride. They performed GC on a column packed with 13% of silicone 702 on Celite with the use of a gas-density balance for detection. Juvet and Fischer [600] developed a special reactor coupled directly to the chromatographic column, in which they fluorinated metals in alloys, carbides, oxides, sulphides and salts. In these samples, they determined quantitatively uranium, sulphur, selenium, technetium, tungsten, molybdenum, rhenium, silicon, boron, osmium, vanadium, iridium and platinum as fluorides. They performed the analysis on a PTFE column packed with 15% of Kel-F oil No. 10 on Chromosorb T. Prior to analysis the column was conditioned with fluorine and chlorine trifluoride in order to remove moisture and reactive organic compounds. The thermal conductivity detector was equipped with nickel-coated filaments resistant to corrosion with metal fluorides. Fig. 5.34 illustrates the analysis of tungsten, rhenium and osmium fluorides by this method. [Pg.192]

Gold trichloride has recently been shown to react with hexamethylditin to produce dimethyltin dichloride as well as trimethyltin chloride (273). [Pg.61]

The propensity of transition metal salts such as silver trifluoroacetate (AgTFA), copper acetylacetonate (CuACAC), and gold trichloride (AuCb) to induce molecular cationization is illustrated in Figure 42.19, for the polymer antioxydant Irganox 1010 (Ciba Specialty Chemicals Corporation) and for PS oligomers [304]. In the case of AgTFA, cluster ions and larger adduct ions of the type (M-i-Ag )+ are also visible in the mass spectra. This observation indicates that the silver atoms form clusters on the sample surface. [Pg.989]
