Glass forming rolling

Ring-roll Process. A method for the production of blanks for plate-glass manufacture. Molten glass passes between a heated ring-roll casting table, of large diameter, and a smaller forming roll. [Pg.262]

Otner Collectors Tarry particulates and other difficult-to-handle hquids have been collected on a dry, expendable phenol formaldehyde-bonded glass-fiber mat (Goldfield, J. Air Pollut. Control A.SSOC., 20, 466 (1970)] in roll form which is advanced intermittently into a filter frame. Superficial gas velocities are 2.5 to 3.5 m/s (8.2 to 11.5 ft/s), and pressure drop is typically 41 to 46 cm (16 to 18 in) of water. CoUection efficiencies of 99 percent have been obtained on submicrometer particles. Brady [Chem. Eng. Prog., 73(8), 45 (1977)] has discussed a cleanable modification of this approach in which the gas is passed through a reticulated foam filter that is slowly rotated and solvent-cleaned. [Pg.1441]

Microfiber glass fleece mats are typically produced from a blend of 20 - 30 percent glass microfibers <1 //m in diameter, with the balance of the glass fibers thicker (3 - 10 //m) and longer (cf. Fig. 1), on a specialized paper machine (Fou-drinier), since this is the only way of achieving the desired tensile strength without binder. The material is supplied in roll form, even though it is normally not processed into pockets, which are not required due to the absence of free electrolyte. The classification here as a leaf separator should be seen in this sense. [Pg.268]

In order to silver Dewar flasks the jacket is cleaned and filled about two thirds full with the prepared solution. The Dewar should be rolled or shaken during the severing. The end-point is determined by occasionally pouring out a little of the solution, and when a flocculent precipitate is formed the solution should be removed from the flask as quickly as possible to prevent blooming. The flask is then cleaned and dried. If the glass is first etched with a dilute solution (about 0-7 molar) of hydrofluoric acid before its final cleaning, the... [Pg.48]

The amorphous PEN resin pellets are first dried at 180 °C and then extruded at 290-300 °C through a die, formed into a sheet, which is then followed by a two-step orientation (forward draw and sideway draw process) just above the glass transition temperature (Tg) (>120°C). After the orientation process, the PEN film is conveyed between rollers at 210-220 °C to induce crystallization. At the end of the orientation and crystallization process, the film is cut and rolled into widths and lengths to suit individual customers [14-16], Two of the process used to produce such films are shown in Figure 10.3. [Pg.341]
