GERM model

Probably the most comprehensive box model for the whole Earth is the GERM model (Geochemical Earth Reference Model, Staudigel et al. (1998), http //www.earthref.org/), Fig. 1.1. The purpose of this model is to provide a geochemical reference model for the Earth, similar to the Preliminary Reference Earth Model (PREM) used in geophysics (see Chapter 3, Section 3.1). This section discusses potential health effects from exposures during the period from conception to maturity at 18 years of age in humans, when all biological systems will have fully developed. Potential effects on offspring resulting from exposures of parental germ cells are considered, as well as any indirect effects on the fetus and neonate due to maternal exposure during gestation and lactation. Relevant animal and in vitro models are also discussed.

All these results support our kinetic interpretations of these supersaturated gelling solutions. We assume that the network growth is described by the growth of individual domains, each one ruled by the autocatalytic model (S). This system behaves like an assembly of microdomains. Sach steroid in a supersaturation state is a potential germ of microdo.main. According to distribution curves of induction times for each microdomain, the typical kinetic curves for each part A and B of the phase diagram are obtained. 

Determine whether guided differentiation toward one germ cell layer or differentiation phenotype is a better predictive model than the undirected differentiation culture protocol used currently.
