General purpose credit cards

General purpose credit cards are the most widely issued and accepted the majority are MasterCard and Visa affiliated. Today, most general purpose credit cards are issued in the form of teaser rate cards, which offer a very low or even 0% APR to new cardholders for a limited period, usually up to six months. Usually, credit cards fall into one of two categories general purpose cards and private label cards. General purpose cards can be further assigned to the categories standard, affinity, and cobranded. Exhibit 13.1 shows the various types of credit cards.
