Gaskets improper

Check the thickness of all gaskets against the dimensions shown on the assembly drawing. Improper gasket thickness will affect the seal setting and the spring load imposed on the seal. [Pg.952]

A survey of glazing failures due to wind load indicates that improper installation of setting blocks, gaskets or lateral shims, or poor edge bite is a significant cause of failure because of the resultant unconservative support conditions. To prevent premature glass failure, a strenuous quality control program is required. [Pg.129]

The improper gasket may have been installed months or perhaps years before. Typically this gasket is exposed to a high vacuum and caustic soda vapors. Unrelated problems within the unit that day created a high liquid level in the vessel that exposed the gasket to atmospheric pressures and molten-liquid 98-percent caustic soda. [Pg.131]

Because these filters (Fig. 12) are made so that the leaves can be rolled from the filter quickly, they can be easily inspected for tears in the septum, leaks around the edges of the screens or around the gaskets in the manifold, improper precoating, and so forth. If the cake is blown dry in the filter before the leaves are removed from the filter shell, the cake will usually remain on the leaves so that it can be discharged either manually or by means of a vibrator. Hydraulic capacity of the leaves is usually not a problem, because their size need not be excessively large for the larger areas. [Pg.171]

NOISE IN CYLINDER 1. Loose piston. 2. Piston hitting outer head or frame end of cylinder. 3. Loose crosshead lock nut. 4. Broken or leaking valve(s). 5. Worn or broken piston rings or expanders. 6. Valve improperly seated/damaged seat gasket. 7. Free air unloader plunger chattering. [Pg.323]

FDA and NIOSH Public Health Notification Oxygen Regulator Fires Resulting from Incorrect Use of CGA870 Seals (June 19,2006) alerts healthcare professionals and the public about a potential occupational hazard associated with the improper use of oxygen regulator gaskets. [Pg.528]

This occurs when the bolt/stud is stretched and contracted with each pulse if the bolt/stud is not pre-stretched it will fail. Improperly torqued bolts on a gasket head can lead to catastrophic failure. [Pg.224]
