Function declaration

A script m file in MATLAB does not start with a function. . . declaration as the function m file fzerotryl. m does. A script m file rather consists only of MATLAB commands. See Section 1.2.5 for more details on these two types of m files in MATLAB. [Pg.29]

In the right-hand side of Eq. (1.57) we have to replace in the declaration of the energy, the entropy, the volume, etc., by the respective molar quantities. Further, we would have to replace in the function declaration every explicate occurrence of n by 1. Therefore, the energy is referring to 1 mol of substance, n no longer appears as a variable in the variable list and can be removed from the list of variables. We can rewrite the molar energy as... [Pg.34]

Clearly, we can force a convergence of the A -, if we adjust the AX, appropriately. However, this is not what is intended. Instead, we must check if the quotient in Eq. (3.40) as a function of temperature and the further variable is such that the series in Eq. (3.38) converges. Alternatively, we start with a relation that is used to derive the adiabatic gas expansion. We set up the energy at some constant mol number (dn = 0) either as a function of temperature and volume U T, V) or as a function of entropy and volume U S, V). Both functions must be equal, if the corresponding arguments are inserted into the function declaration ... [Pg.140]

The description was mostly in terms of ad hoc axioms (i.e., not definitional axioms involving function declarations). The axiomatic style was more or less forced upon us by the high degree of non-determinism inside the client-and host units. It is well known that such collections of large numbers of ad hoc axioms are prone to be inconsistent [COR "95]. [Pg.52]

The distinction between declarative and procedural knowledge has been abandoned by researchers in Artificial Intelligence as not fruitful for their enterprise. The problem with the distinction from their point of view is that any expression becomes executable, hence procedural, if one programs an interpreter for it conversely, the code for any procedure can be treated as data by other procedures, and hence function declaratively. But these observations ate not directly relevant to cognitive psychology. The question whether the human mind has the procedural-declarative distinction embedded in it or not is an empirical question that cannot be settled by reference to the properties of programming languages. [Pg.83]

Feelings about the quality of the lane s functioning declared by drivers who reached the stop line after wating in the queue (1 - adverse, 5 - good)... [Pg.337]

Watches. WatchProviders can contribute entries to the debugger s watch window. For example a local variable declaration whose value can be inspected in the watch window. A WatchProviderScope is a nestable context in which WatchProviders are declared and are valid e.g., two functions declaring local variables. When suspending within any of them, the corresponding WatchProviderScope causes the debugger to only show its local variables. [Pg.39]

There are two types of m-files, functions and scripts. A MATLAB function has variables that can be passed into and out of the function. Any other variables used inside the function are not saved in memory when the function is finished. Scripts, on the other hand, save all their variables in the MATLAB workspace. Functions and scripts have names like myfunction.m. The first line of a function must contain a function declaration, using the following format ... [Pg.493]

Commented lines immediately following the function declaration comprise the help file for the function. To obtain information on any function, simply type help function. Some MATLAB functions that are useful for process control include ... [Pg.493]

This will handle ihe operands as 2 s complemented values and return an appropriate signed array. The rules governing this arithmetic are discussed in Box 6.2. Overloading and function declarations are discussed later in this chapter. [Pg.161]

A function is a subprogram that can receive a number of parameters and return a result of a specified t5 pe. It can consist of one or two parts. The function declaration defines the function s name, its parameters and return value type. It has the following syntax. [Pg.170]

The function declarative part may contain declarations for subprograms, types, subtypes, constants, variables, attributes. It may also contain subprogram bodies, attribute specifications and use clauses. Several other declarations are not supported for synthesis. Every declaration made in this part is reset between calls. Initial values for objects will be ignored when synthesizing. [Pg.170]

Functions are usually stored in packages. The function declaration is stored in the package declaration and the function body in the package body. A declaration is not required for the function if its body is located in the declarative part of an entity, architecture, procediure or another function. The visibility of the function is however restricted in any of these cases. [Pg.170]

The procedure that generates the new random pattern is RND GEN, which is called from widiin the process. The actual procedure is located in die package CONTROL LCX3IC shown in Figure 7.18. Like function declarations, the procedure is split into two parts ... [Pg.255]

The declarations allowed in the declarative part are the same as those in a function declarative part. They are all reset between calls to the procedure and any initial values will be ignored by die synthesizer. [Pg.258]

The first line of a function is called function declaration line and should start with the word function followed by the output argument(s), equality sign, name of the function, and input argument(s), as illustrated in the example. The first set of continuous comment lines immediately after the function declaration line is the help for the function and can be reviewed separately ... [Pg.540]

The modules are attributed in function of the different levels of risk inherent to the products. After having applied the modules applicable to a given product, the manufacturer issues a declaration of conformity and affixes the CE-marking. [Pg.939]

The majority of food enzymes are used as processing aids, and they have no function in the final food. Eor that reason, they do not need to be declared on the label, and will not be present in the final food in any significant amount. A few enzymes, however, are used both as processing aids and as food additives. When used as additives, they must be declared on the food label using the appropriate class name, eg, preservative or antioxidant ... [Pg.304]

In standard Pascal, although only in a few implementations of the language, a function or procedure name may also be a parameter to a sub-prograrn. The constants, types, and variables used in a sub-program, as well as those in the main program, must be declared (see following declarations). [Pg.125]

For low-risk devices the manufacturer may make a declaration of conformity with the essential requirements on the basis of a self-assessment, without any input from a Notified Body. In the case of Clas s I devices that are sterile or have a measuring function. Notified Body involvement is required, to provide assurance as to the effectiveness of the sterilisation process or the meteorological traceability of values as appropriate. [Pg.199]

We must show that Green s function specified in such a way exists and find its explicit representation similar to expression (4). With this aim, the functions a, and (3 will be declared to be solutions of the corresponding Cauchy problems... [Pg.201]

Colors used in food products, like other additives, must be declared on ingredients lists by category name ( color ) along with the name of the color or the E number. Colors present in mixtures with other additives (e.g., flavors) are not excluded from this requirement and must be declared because they will have a coloring function in the final product. ... [Pg.576]

Declaration which makes the reserved variable available in subroutine/function. Also makes routine a sub-model. [Pg.686]

Subscripted variable not been declared as an array used to left of =. Duplicated label, subroutine or function. [Pg.689]

Statements (1), (2) and (3) declare that partial recursive function val(P,I,n) is nowhere defined it is known that it is not partially decidable whether a partial recursive function is everywhere undefined. Statement (4) says that partial recursive function val(P,I,n) is not total recursive while statements (5) and (6) say that it is total recursive neither property is partially decidable for partial recursive functions as defined by, e.g., Turing machines. [Pg.211]

The overall ability of a power supply to attenuate disturbances at its input is expressed as its PSRR (power supply rejection ratio). In graphs, PSRR is usually plotted as a function of frequency. We will invariably find that the rejection ratio is very low at higher frequencies. One reason for this is that the Bode plot cannot really help because the open-loop gain is very small at these frequencies. The other reason is, even a tiny stray parasitic capacitance (e.g., across the power switch and inductor) presents such a low impedance to noise frequencies (whatever their origin) that almost all the noise present at the input migrates to the output unimpeded. In other words, the power stage attenuation (which we had earlier declared to be Vo/Rin) is also nonexistent for noise (and maybe even ripple) frequencies. The only noise attenuation comes from the LC filter (hopefully). [Pg.82]
