Free sorting procedure

Several variants of the free sorting task have been developed for specific objectives. Since they differ in terms of the instructions given to the subjects and the type of collected data, they can be considered as separate procedures. 

The aim of this study is to better understand the consumers representations and perceptions of car body styles, and assess the effect of the physical parameters of cars on the consumers perceptions. For this purpose, we have developed a methodological approach using experimental designs and free sorting task procedure.

In the beginning there is a general loop to decide if more lot sizing procedures should be applied to the existing quant network to meet the constraint of the minimum batch sizes of products. Then the quant network is examined, free usable stocks and free quantities of quants are made available. The material balances of any quant are calculated and decisions are taken whether quants require further explosions of their BOM. Structures for a fast cycle checking, sorting of existing quants and quant links and forecast intervals are built up. A recalculation of the due dates for all quants - also the ones of orders - can be done if specified by the user. 

In view of the difficulties discussed in Section 2 it seems that many of the more important equilibria of relevance to power station operation will not be directly measurable. It is certain, therefore, that great emphasis will have to be placed on methods of estimating high temperature data. It also seems clear that, if these are to be checked up to 350 C, a variety of experimental techniques may well prove necessary to sort out usable thermodynamic data from experiments which, on their own, cannot give them. Alternatively, if estimation procedures can be developed which are substantially free from empirical fitting parameters, they may not require extensive checking. 

The procedure we have used would be particularly appropriate in the case of Ag(II), where the two J states are already well separated in the free ion because of a very large spin-orbit coupling. An energy level diagram of the following sort could then be drawn ...

We have already noted that the moisture content of some substances is substantially changed by variations in humidity and temperature. Colloidal materials containing large amounts of sorbed moisture are particularly susceptible to the effects of these variables. For example, the moisture content of a potato starch has been found to vary from 10% to 21% as a consequence of an increase in relative humidity from 20% to 70%. With substances of this sort, comparable analytical data from one laboratory to another or even within the same laboratory can be achieved only by carefully specifying a procedure for taking the moisture content into consideration. For example, samples are frequently dried to constant mass at 105°C or at some other specified temperature. Analyses are then performed and results reported on this dry basis. While such a procedure may not render the solid completely free of water, it usually lowers the moisture content to a reproducible level.
