The cationic Pd(II)-7i-allyl complexes of the formula [(Ligand)Pd(ri3-C3H5)]PF6 (Ligand = ferrocenyl imino-phosphine la-e) were isolated in the solid state by the literature procedure15,61 using [(ri3-C3H5)PdCl]2 as starting material.[7] The complexes obtained were used as catalyst precursors for the asymmetric allylic... [Pg.55]

In empirical formulas of inorganic compounds, electropositive elements are listed first [3]. The stoichiometry of the element symbols is indicated at the lower right-hand side by index numbers. If necessary, the charges of ions are placed at the top right-hand side next to the element symbol (e.g., S "). In ions of complexes, the central atom is specified before the ligands are listed in alphabetical order, the complex ion is set in square brackets (e.g., Na2[Sn(OH)+]). [Pg.20]

Besides structure and substructure searches, Gmclin provides a special search strategy for coordiuation compouuds which is found in no other database the ligand search system, This superior search method gives access to coordination compounds from a completely different point of view it is possible to retrieve all coordination compounds with the same ligand environment, independently of the central atom or the empirical formula of the compound. [Pg.249]

A more eflicient and general synthetic procedure is the Masamune reaction of aldehydes with boron enolates of chiral a-silyloxy ketones. A double asymmetric induction generates two new chiral centres with enantioselectivities > 99%. It is again explained by a chair-like six-centre transition state. The repulsive interactions of the bulky cyclohexyl group with the vinylic hydrogen and the boron ligands dictate the approach of the enolate to the aldehyde (S. Masamune, 1981 A). The fi-hydroxy-x-methyl ketones obtained are pure threo products (threo = threose- or threonine-like Fischer formula also termed syn" = planar zig-zag chain with substituents on one side), and the reaction has successfully been applied to macrolide syntheses (S. Masamune, 1981 B). Optically pure threo (= syn") 8-hydroxy-a-methyl carboxylic acids are obtained by desilylation and periodate oxidation (S. Masamune, 1981 A). Chiral 0-((S)-trans-2,5-dimethyl-l-borolanyl) ketene thioketals giving pure erythro (= anti ) diastereomers have also been developed by S. Masamune (1986). [Pg.62]

Abbreviations for Ligand Names. Except for certain hydrocarbon radicals, for ligand (L) and metal (M), and a few with H, all abbreviations are in lowercase letters and do not involve hyphens. In formulas, the ligand abbreviation is set off with parentheses. Some common abbrevia-... [Pg.223]

To determine the formula for the complex between Fe + and o-phenanthroline, a series of solutions was prepared in which the total concentration of metal and ligand was held constant at 3.15 X 10 M. The absorbance of each solution was measured at a wavelength of 510 nm. Using the following data, determine the formula for the complex. [Pg.405]

The known uranium(VI) carbonate soHds have empirical formulas, 1102(003), M2U02(C03)2, and M4U02(C03)3. The soHd of composition 1102(003) is a well-known mineral, mtherfordine, and its stmcture has been determined from crystals of both the natural mineral and synthetic samples. Rutherfordine is a layered soHd in which the local coordination environment of the uranyl ion consists of a hexagonal bipyramidal arrangement of oxygen atoms with the uranyl units perpendicular to the orthorhombic plane. Each uranium atom forms six equatorial bonds with the oxygen atoms of four carbonate ligands, two in a bidentate manner and two in a monodentate manner. [Pg.327]

If the metals or ligands involved in a displacement reaction form chelates where type formulas are different, the exchange equiUbrium constant is the simple ratio of the formation constants of the chelates. Rather, for the reaction... [Pg.386]
