If a U.S. company is selling a good or service to a buyer in another country and agrees to receive currency in other than U.S. dollars, it is likely that the foreign currency will fluctuate in value prior payment. If the foreign currency depreciates (U.S. dollar appreciates in comparison) between the time goods or services are sold for a certain price and the time the customer pays, their payment will actually convert into fewer U.S. dollars. In this case, the company loses money. [Pg.56]

Where the process is a labor intensive, low-cost workers are required in numbers (for example, textiles and clothing). The cost of capital has little effect on the choice of location as capital sources can be from anywhere.
