Food and Environment Protection Act 1985

Comprehensive legislation governs the use of pesticides in the UK. These controls are set out and implemented through Part III of the Food and Environment Protection Act 1985 (FEPA) and The Control of Pesticide Regulations 1986 (CO PR). [Pg.43]

A pesticide is defined, under the Food and Environment Protection Act (1985), as any substance, preparation or organism prepared or used for destroying any pest . Pesticides include herbicides, fungicides, insecticides, molliiscicides, roden-ticides, growth regulators, and masonry and timber preservatives. [Pg.43]

Halt the supply of contaminated food. This rather draconian measure can and has been used in extreme cases. In the UK there are measures in place to do this in the Food and Environment Protection Act 1985. [Pg.3]

These Regulations made under the Food and Environment Protection Act 1985 all came into force by 1 January 1988. The Regulations apply to any pesticide or any substance used generally for plant control and protection against pests of all types, including antifouling paint used on boats. They do not apply to substances covered by other Acts like the Medicines Act 1968, The Food Safety Act 1990, those used in laboratories and a number of other specific applications. [Pg.482]
