Fontanel

CA/S-Bulging fontanel, convulsions, dizziness, headache, hypesthesia, paresthesia, pseudotumor cerebri, sedation, vertigo. [Pg.1587]

Cardiovascular - Benign intracranial hypertension (pseudotumor cerebri) has been reported rarely. Bulging fontanels, as a sign of benign intracranial hypertension in infants, have been reported rarely. Changes in electrocardiogram (eg, nonspecific ST/T wave changes, bundle branch block) have been reported in association with pulmonary reactions. [Pg.1706]

A newborn baby boy is unconscious after having suffered a seizure. A variety of dysmorphic facial features are evident, including a high forehead, a flat occiput, large fontanelles, and a high arched palate. All reflexes are depressed. There is hepatomegaly consistent with... [Pg.119]

The major adverse effect on the fetus is altered thyroid function (SEDA-13, 141 SEDA-14, 149 SEDA-19, 194 SEDA-20, 176). There have been individual reports of neonatal hyperthyroxinemia (79), goiter (80), and hypothyroidism (81). In the patient with goiter there was associated hypotonia, bradycardia, large fontanelles, and macroglossia (80). [Pg.578]

Miniature pigs fed Aroclor 1254 (1, 10 or 30 ng/kg/d) beginning 21 days prior to breeding, and continued throughout pregnancy and lactation, showed dose-related decreases in live litter size and number of pregnancies, and an increase in post-natal mortality. At 10 mg/kg malformations (syndactyly, cleft palates) appeared at 30 mg/kg, cleft palates and patent fontanelles (ref. 143c). [Pg.348]

Cleft palate, enlarged fontanelle and poly- and syndactyly (dog, mini-pig) were observed after administration of Aroclor 1254. The hyperpigmentation and low birth weights observed in monkeys when exposed to Aroclor 1254 prenatally is paralleled in humans under comparable conditions. [Pg.349]

Secondary metabolites produced by plant cell culture are commonly accumulated in the cells. With few exceptions such as Capsicum frutescens, Thalictrum minus (9) and Vanilla planifolia (Knorr, D. and Romagnoli, L., Univ. of Delaware, unpublished data) cultures, which release valuable compounds such as capsaicin, berberine and vanillin, respectively, into the medium, procedures to induce product release are required to develop continuous production processes. Reported permeabilization methods include treatment with dimethylsulfoxide (DMSO), isopropanol, toluene, phenethyl alcohol or chloroform (9, 28). But as Fontanel and Tabata (9) pointed out, such treatments with organic solvents are severe and other methods of permeabilization need to be developed. [Pg.72]

Acute poisoning with vitamin A produces symptoms such as drowsiness, sluggishness, irritability, an irresistible desire to sleep, severe headache, and papilledema. In some cases papilledema is the only symptom (SEDA-11, 333) (16,17). In young children, raised intracranial pressure with bulging of the fontanelle, papilledema, and diplopia have been observed (SED-8,799, 801) (SEDA-15, 411) (18). [Pg.3643]

Acute toxicity is uncommon in adults. However, very large exposures to vitamin A have resulted in the development of increased intracranial pressure (symptoms described include headache, dizziness, vomiting, visual changes, and bulging fontanel in infants). [Pg.2838]
