French stakeholder consultation and participation is dictated by the French state. Interviewees explained that organisations are selected by the state through a process of invitation . Evidence from the interviews indicates that French trade unions and trade associations follow, conform with, and facilitate political decision-making. For instance, French industry and trade unions gather statistics that can be used by regulators. The focus of this review article will be on the interaction between macromolecules and small-molecule ligands.
