FLUORODINITRO COMPOUNDS

Several fluorodinitro compounds of methane (1,1,1-) and ethane (1,2,2-) are described as explosive, sensitive to initiation by impact, shock, friction or other means [1]. Procedures for safe handling of fluorine and explosive fluoronitro compounds are detailed [2],... [Pg.159]

Silicon Fluorodinitro Compounds. Silane esters of 2,2,2-fluordinitroethanol have been prepd from chlorosilanes in approx 90% yield by Neale and Williams (Ref 36). A typical example of one of the silanes fabricated and examined in this ref is... [Pg.328]

Organic fluorides are generally less toxic than other halogenated hydrocarbons. Fluorocarbons are chemicaUy inert to most materials but can react violendy with barium, sodium, and potassium. Fluoroamides react violendy with lithium tetrahydroaluminate and with sodium at very high temperatures. Some fluorinated cyclopropenyl methyl ethers react violently with water or methanol. Some fluorodinitro compounds of methane and ethane are sensitive explosives. When heated to decomposition they emit toxic fumes of F. Common air contaminants. [Pg.669]

The decomposition of aliphatic o -fluorodinitro compounds [e.g. F(N02)2CCH2CH2 C02CH2C(N02)3 and (N02)3CCH2CH2C02CH2C(N02)2F] in the liquid phase (melt and solution) was found to proceed via homolytic cleavage of the C—N bond, the same mechanism as in the gas phase. ... [Pg.243]

Two hydrogen atom free 3,3 -bi(l,2,4-oxadiazole) derivatives, 5,5 -bis(trinitromethyl)-3,3 -bi(l, 2,4-oxadiazole) and 5,5 -bis(fluorodinitro-methyl)-3,3 -bi(l,2,4-oxadiazole) have been synthesized by Klapotke and co-workers and characterised by multinuclear magnetic spectroscopy for both compounds sets of spin-spin couplings have been reported. Thus, the C(N02)s groups of 5,5 -bis(trinitromethyl)-3,3 -bi(l,2,4-oxadia-zole) have shown a septet at 117.5 ppm due to Vcn coupling of 9.4 Hz, while in the spectrum of 5,5 -bis(fluorodinitromethyl)-3,3 -bi(l,2,4-oxa-diazole) a doublet of quintets at 111.9 ppm with couplings of Vcf = 299 Hz and Vcn = 9.6 Hz has been observed. [Pg.206]
