Information on transport processes through membranes of red blood cells were obtained by fluorescence investigations using a nitrogen pumped dye laser as excitation source by Marowsky et al. 76). The use of carotenes for vitamin A biosynthesis raises two problems (1) the site of transformation of carotenes into vitamin A and (2) the biochemical pathway involved in the transformation. The breakdown is generally thought to occur in the intestine, but there is some debate as to whether it occurs within the lumen of the intestine or within the cells. Using techniques capable of detecting fluorescence, investigators have shown that vitamin A in the intestinal lumen is in close contact with the surface of intestinal villi before it can be detected inside of the cells of the intestinal epithelium. It is also known that intravenously administered carotene is broken down to vitamin A and stored as such in the liver and in the kidney consequently, tissues other than the intestine... 

One research area that has benefited from extensive fluorescence investigations is the field of protein structure-function studies. There are three aromatic amino acids that absorb light in the ultraviolet spectral range, phenylalanine (Phe), tyrosine (lyr) and tryptophan (Trp). Because of their molar absorptivity the fluorescence of Tyr (2276 = 1405 m cm ) and Trp (e28o = 5579 cm" ) have... 

The X fluorescence investigation of the materials, prepared in this manner, shows that the dispersion of the polymer inside the bitumen is much more pronounced in the case of activated polymer, regardless of the polymer grain size introduced during the mixture preparation. All these results show the advantages of the polymer activation. Below, we attempt verification of reasons of this improvement.
