The extraction of milk samples was done by the quick, easy, cheap, effective, rugged, and safe (QuEChERS) method [13], modified by adding disodium ethylene-diaminetetraacetate dihydrate (Na2-EDTA). Without any further cleanup, the extract was separated on HPTLC silica gel plates modified by Na2-EDTA. The development was performed with chloroform/methanol/ammonium hydroxide solution (25%), 60/35/5 (v/v/v), followed by fluorescence densitometry (ELD) at 366 nm/<400 nm... 

The quality of the plates used is an important factor in obtaining good quantitative results. For example, Liang et al. (1996a) found that fluorescent impurities present in the layer were the major limitation to the sensitivity and dynamic range of quantitative HPTLC with fluorescence densitometry. They recommended that for best results, plates should be cleaned by development with methanol or chloroform-methanol (1 1) before use and stored in a clean environment to minimize contamination. In addition, use of pure solvents and a clean laboratory environment was found to be essential to obtain good quantitative results, especially at low sample concentration. 

Other aroma chemicals have been determined in different cosmetic products. So, in fine fragrances we can find papers focusing on cinnamyl anthranilate determination by LC-FL (Demers et al., 1987) or by TLC with fluorescence densitometry (FD) (Sherma and Pilgrim, 1988), and benzyhdene acetone determination by LC-FL (Yates and Wenninger, 1988) or...
