Fluorescein isothiocyanate testing

This test uses the ex vivo model of comeal organ culture previously discussed combined with Fluorescein Isothiocyanate-Dextran Retention technique. Chemical insult may interfere with the comeal epithelial barrier function by disturbing the integrity of tight junctions. Disruption of tight junctions would... [Pg.322]

This detection method has been tested with a series of amino acids derivatized prior to injection with fluorescein isothiocyanate, to yield products that are excited at 488 nm and produce emission at 528 nm (Eq. 12.10) ... [Pg.232]

The function of the device containing 2-mm long monolith was first tested on capture of fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC)-labeled lysozyme from its mixture with cytochrome c. The capture was monitored via an increase in fluorescence of the monolith. The ability of the monolith to selectively capture lysozyme from the mixture was validated by MALDI-TOF mass spectrometry. Since the Cibacron-blue-3G-A ligand has a strong affinity for albumins, the ultimate function was successfully demonstrated with capture of albumin from human cerebrospinal fluid. ... [Pg.1306]

Visibly luminescent, NIR (980 nm) excitable Er/Yb-doped nanoparticles have been used for microscopic detection in DNA microarrays [65]. The complete absence of endogenous upconversion luminescence leads to very low backgrounds and enhanced contrast. An NIR luminescent ytterbium(III) complex based on the fluorescein-isothiocyanate motif was demonstrated to be an adequate luminescent label in a sandwich-type in vitro diagnostic test [27]. [Pg.156]

From an operational viewpoint, the post-column reaction of biotin with avidin labelled with fluorescein isothiocyanate (avidin-FITC) has become the simplest HPLC method for the quantitation of biotin and biocytin, and has allowed routine testing laboratories to generate quality control (QC) data (Lahely et al. 1999). Typical chromatograms are shown in Figure 24.1 of a standard and a milk powder extract. The analytical time is only a few minutes because of the absence of interfering fluorescent substances. Biocytin, if present, elutes in front of biotin and can be concurrently detected. [Pg.415]
