Flow rate of ammonia

TTie pH signal is fed via a pH meter to a potentiometric recorder and to a neutrahzation controller, which compares the electrode e.m.f. with pre-selected values and opens or closes gas-control valves accordingly. Depending on the pH, it is possible to obtain a flow of air, ammonia or a mixture of both gases. By careful adjustment of the potentiometers and the flow-rates of ammonia and air, it is possible to control the final pH and also to keep the digest within a fairly closely defined pH range during the neutrahzation process. [Pg.128]

Determine the total pump power input, total turbine power output, rate of heat added, rate of heat removed, cycle efficiency, and mass flow rate of ammonia. [Pg.240]

Neat ammonia was used as a carrier gas and as a reactant. It was dried by passage through a sodium hydroxide column before it entered the reactor. The flow rate of ammonia was 60 ml/min. [Pg.500]

A counterflow double-pipe heat exchanger is used to heat liquid ammonia from 10 to 30°C with hot water that enters the exchanger at 60°C. The flow rate of the water is 5.0 kg/s and the overall heat-transfer coefficient is 800 W/m2 °C. The area of the heat exchanger is 30 m2. Calculate the flow rate of ammonia. [Pg.574]

P11-7b The oxidation of ammonia is to be carried out over platinum gauze. The molar flow rate of ammonia is 10 mol/min at a temperature of 500 K and a pressure of 202.6 kPa. Is one 250-mesh screen 10 cm in diameter sufficient to achieve 60% conversion The wire diameter is 0.044 mm. Assume 25% excess air, and ignore the effects of volume changes on the Reynolds number. [Pg.731]

Busby et al. [12]. studied the effect of changes in mass flow rates of ammonia-air mixture per unit mass of catalyst at various temperatures on conversion. Their results showed the conversion ranged between 95.2% and 98.4% at temperatures of 850, 875, and 900°C. The optimal condition would still depend on the gauze structure and design (i.e., by the weave and its thickness, etc.). [Pg.112]

As Fig.2 and Table 1 show, increasing the flow rate of Ammonia produced by 66.6% resulted in a decrease in total plant Carbon Footprint (= 2.8 - 6.6%) considering all scenarios. Carbon Footprint of each unit increased with increased production rate except for the Ammonia Synthesis loop where this decrease occurred. A total decrease of ( 3.8 - 6%) of plant Carbon Footprint occurred when using sweet gas instead of sour gas that has to be treated first. Moreover, the utilization of HP and LP steam reduces the overall Carbon Footprint (= 12.5 - 15%). LP steam is utilized in boilers of coliimns in both Acid Gas Sweetening and CO2 Removal units. [Pg.100]

The flow rate of ammonia vapor from a cylinder is dependent on the rate of vaporization of the liquid ammonia. Since heat transfer from the surrounding atmosphere through the cylinder wall is greatest through the portion of the wall that is wet with liquid internally, the rate of vaporization will diminish as the liquid level in the cylinder decreases. A 150-lb (68-kg) cylinder at room temperature standing vertically may be expected to deliver up to 30 (850 L) of am-... [Pg.251]

In analogy with a flxed bed reactor (W7f nhj), the kinetic data are represented by T/fNHa. where L stands for the length of the catalyst coating and Fnhj is the molar flow rate of ammonia. Standard conditions consisted of a mixture of 3 vol % NH3 and 20 vol% O2 at a total flow rate of 400ml/min. A hotspot temperature of 6 K was measured at 50% conversion of 3 mol% ammonia. [Pg.828]

What flow rate of ammonia is needed to melt the ice An energy balance similar to that performed on the slusher yields Ft, i = 15 kg/min. We recommend that you attempt this analysis. Recall that Ft 4 = 52.6 kg/min and stream 4 is 99 wt% ice and 1 wt% water at O C. [Pg.91]

Suppose that the exhaust stream of a power plant has a flow rate of 335 L/s at a temperature of 955 K, and that the exhaust contains a partial pressure of NO of 22.4 torr. What should be the flow rate of ammonia delivered at 755 torr and 298 K into the stream to react completely with the NO if the ammonia is 65.2% pure (by volume) ... [Pg.243]
