Magnesium oxychloride cements are widely used for the fabrication of floors. They find application for this purpose because of their attractive appearance, which resembles marble, and also because of their acoustic and elastic properties and their resistance to the accumulation of static charge. They have also been used for plastering walls, both interior and exterior for exterior walls the cement often includes embedded stone aggregate (Sorrell Armstrong, 1976). Drying. The drying step for large shapes is critical. Extremely large fireclay and silica shapes are sometimes allowed to dry on a temperature-controlled floor heated by steam or air ducts embedded in the concrete. Example 10 Furnace Simulation via Zoning The furnace chamber depicted in Fig. 5-20 is heated by combustion gases passing through 20 vertical radiant tubes which are backed by refractory sidewalls. A 50-fL (4.645-m2) sink is positioned centrally on the floor of the furnace. The tube and sink temperatures are measured with embedded thermocouples as 1500 and 1200°F, respectively. Mor-Flo 430-M1 is a restorer concentrate formulation which can be easily diluted with water to form a "ready-to-use" solution. Recommended for mop-on applications where high and ultra-speed maintenance procedures are used. Since the restorer is a film former, floors should be clean and free of embedded soil prior to application. Application of the restorer fills small scratches and enhances gloss. The coating may be burnished after drying. [Pg.274]

Of course, floors in a structure receive the greatest abuse, where deterioration occurs in such areas, epoxy resin systems have been widely used for repairs. Industrial floors are now constructed with initial specifications calling for an epoxy mortar, usually, 1/4 inch in thickness, to provide a diemically and physically resistant surface.
