Flexibility transportation network

The STS-1 SPE allows the bandwidth of the fiber transport network to be managed in 50-Mb/s chunks. For example, m STS cross connect can provide the flexible interconnection of STS-1 SPEs between a large number of OC-N interfaces. In many parts of the network, however, the STS-1 granularity is too coarse to allow efficient bandwidth management. [Pg.1657]

CNTs own excellent materials properties. DNA is an excellent molecule to construct macromolecular networks because it is easy to synthesize, with a high specificity of interaction, and is conformationally flexible. The complementary base-paring properties of DNA molecules have been used to make two-dimensional crystals and prototypes of DNA computers and electronic circuits (Yan et al., 2002 Batalia et al., 2002). Therefore functionalization of CNTs with DNA molecules has great potential for applications such as developing nanodevices or nanosystems, biosensors, electronic sequencing, and gene transporters. [Pg.183]

In accordance with theoretical predictions of the dynamic properties of networks, the critical concentration of dextran appears to be independent of the molecular weight of the flexible polymeric diffusant although some differences are noted when the behaviour of the flexible polymers used is compared e.g. the critical dextran concentrations are lower for PEG than for PVP and PVA. For ternary polymer systems, as studied here, the requirement of a critical concentration that corresponds to the molecular dimensions of the dextran matrix is an experimental feature which appears to be critical for the onset of rapid polymer transport. It is noteworthy that an unambiguous experimental identification of a critical concentration associated with the transport of these types of polymers in solution in relation to the onset of polymer network formation has not been reported so far. Indeed, our studies on the diffusion of dextran in binary (polymer/solvent) systems demonstrated that both its mutual and intradiffusion coefficients vary continuously with increasing concentration 2. ... [Pg.131]

Network thermodynamics can be used in the linear and nonlinear regions of nonequilibrium thermodynamics, and has the flexibility to deal with complex systems in which the transport and reactions occur simultaneously. The results of nonequilibrium thermodynamics based on Onsager s work can be interpreted and extended to describe coupled, nonlinear systems in biology and chemistry. [Pg.671]

A second pipeline network (LQ, Low Quahty) must be developed to allow collection and transport of syngas generated in downstream production processes and to allow for flexibility of syngas quahty at end-user point. The LQ pipeline network has a variable syngas quahty, which is inadequate for some chemical processes but inconsequenhal or even beneficial for facilities such as electricity production and DRI [2]. The double bus infrastructure is illustrated in figure 3. [Pg.226]

Ultimately, security of gas supply in Europe will come through a more flexible and transparent transport system, increased flexibility in the current supply contracts," and a lower cost for the use of the network itself. Either competition or efficient regulation could advance this goal, for which the number of viable sources of gas rises and the ability of any... [Pg.49]
