Oral care products flavors

Fennel oil is mainly used in flavoring oral care products and in pharmaceutical preparations. A reasonably quantity of fennel oil is used for the production of pure anethole for flavouring alcoholic beverages (anise liqueurs) [513dj. FCT 1976 (17) p.529 [8006-84-6], [84625-39-8]. [Pg.196]

Eucalyptus oils with a high cineole content are used for cineole production. The oils and cineole itself are used primarily in pharmaceutical preparations. Fairly large quantities are also used in perfumery, e.g., to imitate the odor of cineole-containing essential oils and flavoring of food (sweets) and oral care products. FCT 1975 (13) p. 107 [8000-48-4], [84625-32-1]. [Pg.195]

By far the most spearmint oil is used for flavoring toothpaste and chewing gum. Smaller quantities are used in other oral care products and in pharmaceutical preparations. FCT 1976 (16) p.871 [8008-79-5], [84696-51-5]. [Pg.206]

Star anise oil and its product, anethole, are used primarily in the alcoholic beverage industry (anise liquors), but also for flavoring food and oral care products. FCT 1975 (13) p.715 [68952-43-2], [84650-59-9]. [Pg.220]

C13H25NO, Mr 211.35, mp. 88 °C, [a]p° -49° to -54°, is a white, crystalline solid. The compound has a strong physiological cooling effect and is used in a lot of flavor and cosmetic applications to create a cooling sensation. Main use is in oral care products. [Pg.77]

Anise oil is used for flavoring foods, beverages, and oral care products. [Pg.186]

Other materials used similarly include piperitone (194) and pulegone (187). The former is usually isolated from the oil of Eucalyptus dives, but some is also synthesized from limonene (82). It has a fresh minty, camphoraceous note, and finds some use in perfumes (largely for masking), but more in flavors, such as caraway and tarragon. It is also used as a mint flavor ingredient in oral care products. [Pg.319]

Menthol is the chief flavoring agent in mint and peppermint and is used in candy, tobacco, oral care items, pharmaceuticals, and various other products. Takasago developed the synthesis of (-)-menthol (in the 1980s) from myrcene, which is converted to diethylgeranylamine by the lithium-catalyzed addition of dieth-ylamine. This is then catalytically isomerized to the chiral 3R-citronella enamine with 96-99% enantiomeric excess. Hydrolysis of this intermediate gave 3R-(+)-citronella a higher chiral purity than citronella from citronella oil. This is the second major corn-... [Pg.278]
