Flanges special

Liquids. Liquids usually are moved through pipelines (qv) by pumps. Special alloys, plastic pipe and liners, glass, and ceramics are widely employed in the chemical industry for transport of corrosive hquids. Care is required in making the connections, to prevent exposure of unprotected metal such as flanges and bolts to the corrosive material inside the piping. 

Valves must comply with the apphcable standards hsted in Appendix E of the code and with the allowable pressure-temperature limits estabhshed thereby but not beyond the code-estabhshed service or materials limitations. Special valves must meet the same requirements as for countermoment flanges. 

The mixing bars in the continuous unit also convey the product through the unit, whereas the product filling level is determined by a weir flanged between the housing sections. The residence time and speed of the mixing shaft are specially matched to the requirements of the process. 

Straight-lobe compressor casings, also called housings or cylinders by different manufacturers, are furnished in cast iron by all vendors. There is an optional aluminum construction available for special applications. Inlet and outlet are suitable for a 125 pound standard ANSI flanged connection. 

All but two of the bolts Joining the relief valve to the flare header are removed. The sealing plate is then inserted between the relief valve and the flare header. It is secured by special bolts with small heads that pass through the bolt holes in the relief-valve flange but not through the holes in the sealing plate. The last two bolts can then be removed and the relief valve removed. To replace the relief valve the procedure is reversed [2]. 

If there is a preference as to horizontal or vertical split casing, it should be stated., Also the suction and discharge connections should be stated as to top or end, or special, together with the preference as to flanged (rating) or screwed. Small pumps are commonly furnished with screwed connections unless otherwise specified.
