Maintenance located a 12 in. 300 psi RF check valve that was used on firewater pumps, but not on hydrocarbons. Example 8 Compressible Flow with Friction Losses Calculate the discharge rate of air to the atmosphere from a reservoir at 10 Pa gauge and 20 G through 10 m of straight 2-in Schedule 40 steel pipe (inside diameter = 0.0525 m), and 3 standard radius, flanged 90 elhows. Assume 0.5 velocity heads lost for the elhows. 

Valve bodies are also standardized to mate with common piping connections flanged, butt-weld end, socket-weld end, and screwed end. Dimensional information for some of these joints and class pressure-temperature ratings are included in Sec. 10, Process Plant Piping. Control valves have their own standardized face-to-face dimensions that are governed by ISA Standards S75.03, 04, 12, 14, 15, 16, 20, and 22. Butterfly valves are also governed by API 609 and Manufacturers Standardization Society (MSS) SP-67 and 68. 

The coefficient of linear expansion of these alloys in the temperature range of 21 to 100°C (70 to 212°F) is 12.2 X lO C (6.8 X 10"V°F), which is slightly above that of cast iron (National Bureau of Standards). Since these loys have practically no elasticity, it is necessary to use expansion joints in relatively short pipe hnes. Connections for flanged pipe, fittings, valves, and pumps are made to 125-lb American Standarci drilling. 

For flanges of nonstandard dimensions or for sizes beyond the scope of the approved standards, design shall be in accordance with the requirements of the ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code, Sec. T11, except that requirements for fabrication, assembly, inspection testing, and the pressure and temperature hmits for materials of the Piping Code are to prevail. Countermoment flanges of flat face or otherwise providing a reaction outside the bolt circle are permitted if... 

Valves must comply with the apphcable standards hsted in Appendix E of the code and with the allowable pressure-temperature limits estabhshed thereby but not beyond the code-estabhshed service or materials limitations. Special valves must meet the same requirements as for countermoment flanges.

Straight-lobe compressor casings, also called housings or cylinders by different manufacturers, are furnished in cast iron by all vendors. There is an optional aluminum construction available for special applications. Inlet and outlet are suitable for a 125 pound standard ANSI flanged connection.
