Film-forming agent

The treated water contains sufficient concentration of surface film-forming agents if cold water spends about 12 min and warm water at least 20 min in the tank [19]. Sudden temperature variations over 10°C must be prevented because the active form of Al(OH)3 is sensitive to them [20]. If mixing with cold water or subsequent warming cannot be avoided, a short-term electrolytic aftertreatment must be provided in a small reaction tank. The development of undisturbed protective films in the tubing assumes continuous water flow with forced circulation by pumps [20]. [Pg.457]

The most widely used cellulose gums have DS values of about 0.65-1.0. CMCs are used as thickening, binding, stabilizing, and film-forming agents. [Pg.271]

Because of its vinyl acetate component, copovidone is somewhat more hydrophobic and gives less brittle films. This gives the product its favourable properties as a soluble binder and film-forming agent, particularly for solid dosage forms. [Pg.4]

Povidone K 90 is only seldom used for film coating (see Table 87). Its most important properties here are film formation, adhesion promotion [276], pigment dispersion and the improvement of the solubility of other film-forming agents and of the final coating in water [100]. [Pg.100]

Copovidone forms soluble films, independently of the pH, regardless of whether it is processed as a solution in water or in organic solvents, or as a powder. It differs from povidone as a film-forming agent in that it is less hygroscopic (see Section 4.2.4.4) and has greater plasticity and elasticity. At the same time the films are also less tacky. The glass transition temperature depends on the moisture content, and at 103°C for dry copovidone, is also below that of dry povidone K 30 (i68°C). [Pg.214]

The formulation in Table 180 is an example of an antimycotic film plaster spray containing the drug, clotrimazole. Here, copovidone is used as the sole film-forming agent. [Pg.217]

The lacquer composition contains a film-forming agent, a solvent therefore and an anti-fungal amormt of griseofulvin, which can be either in suspension or solution in the composition. It is applied to a finger or toenail and allowed to remain in contact therewith until the solvents evaporate and a thin film of griseofulvin remains. [Pg.93]
