The rhizomes and stipes of Dryopteris filix-mas and Dryopteris mar-ginalis are official in the U. S. P. The fibro-vascular bundles of these are concentric in type but differ from the concentric fibro-vascular bundles of some monocotyledons in that xylem is innermost and phloem surrounds the xylem. [Pg.292]

MALE FERN (Buckler Fern) Filicis rhizoma The drug consists of the dried rhizomes with remaining petioles from Dryopteris filix mas (L.), Schott, family Polypodiaceae, a fern which grows in Europe, Northern Asia and America. [Pg.120]

The active ingredients are phloroglucinol derivatives with two ring systems (flavaspidic acid, desaspidine) and with three ring systems (filix acid). [Pg.120]
