The previous sections indicated the types of items and their amounts generated in each of the major steps in a planned field residue program. In this section archival needs related to these items are given. These are grouped by archival requirement. 

The types and amounts of raw data generated will be illustrated by following a planned field crop residue program from its definition (protocol) stage to the final report. The archival/documentation needs will then be similarly illustrated. 

The purpose of this paper is to describe the GLP compliance system developed for the Residue Chemistry Field Trials Program at ICI Americas Inc. This program covers crop residue and environmental fate studies.

For a certain drug, the total residue is determined from a radioisotope study, and the marker concentration is determined by the approved regulatory method. Once the Rm value is known, a marker residue tolerance is established. This value is then used in field monitoring programs to ensure that no edible tissues containing drug residue above the safe concentration will reach the consumer. For albendazole, the Rm value for the 2-aminosulfone metabolite in 0.20 or 20% of the total residue. Since the safe concentration for albendazole residues in liver is 1.2 ppm (0.6 ppm in meat x 2 (food factor)), the marker tolerance has been established at 240 ppb. 

The most reliable way to control the chelant program is to base it on FW chelant demand, rather than to aim at maintaining a chelant residual in the boiler. The fact is that most chelant residual tests in the field are widely inaccurate, and EDTA begins to break down at pressures over 400 psig. Nevertheless, it is useful to conduct these tests on a purely qualitative basis, simply to gain some confidence that a small residual exists. Consequently, recommended chelant residuals are provided in the appropriate tables. Needless to say, it is imperative that the chelant demand is made on a truly representative FW sample or series of samples. 

Pesticide residues consist of chemicals that might occur in a commodity as a result of application of a pesticide. Such chemicals typically correspond to compounds for which a regulatory agency has or will set a tolerance, i.e., a maximum residue limit, specific to the commodity. In either a field study or a market basket survey, residues to be determined will be those which result from application of the specific pesticide that the study is intended to support. A market basket survey, however, might be intended to support not just one but several different pesticides of the same or different chemical classes. In addition, a market basket survey might include pesticides not used in the USA but for which import tolerances exist. For example, some uses of the parathion family of pesticides on food products have been abandoned in the USA but remain in other countries that export the products to the USA. A market basket survey offers a means to evaluate actual dietary exposures to residues of such pesticides. In addition, tolerance expressions frequently include multiple compounds, all of which must typically be determined in residue field trials. The sponsor of the market basket survey must decide whether to analyze for all compounds in the applicable tolerance expression or to restrict the program to selected analytes, such as the active ingredient. 

Storage stability studies for carfentrazone-ethyl compounds on crop matrices have shown a pattern of stability for at least 7-24 months, depending on the study program or the maximum sample storage interval for the study. Carfentrazone-ethyl was not stable in field corn starch, potato tuber and bovine kidney. The residue results indicated that a significant portion of carfentrazone-ethyl was converted to C-Cl-PAc in these matrices however, the total amount of carfentrazone-ethyl and C-Cl-PAc accounted for the original spiking level. Since both carfentrazone-ethyl and C-Cl-PAc were determined in these stability studies, the instability of carfentrazone-ethyl was not of any concern. 

In order to run a MM calculation, the parameters Kr, req, Kg, 0eq, Vn, y, Aab, Bab, and the charges Qa must be adjusted for different molecules or residues, usually to reproduce some experimental property or quantum calculation. The term force field refers to a specific set of those parameters, derived to work together. Besides the program, the name Amber is also used to refer to the particular family of force fields according to Eq. (1-1), although in this case the proper reference to the force field should also include the specific version details (e.g. Amber ff99SB [3], ff03 [4], etc.). 

Cleanup of residual LNAPL in the shallow soils was considered to be a necessary part of the overall remediation program. Enhanced biological activity was initially considered. A laboratory demonstration proved that naturally occurring local oil bacteria could be used to accomplish this task. A pilot laboratory study was conducted to evaluate the scale-up treatment parameters for operation in the field.
