Faculty support

I didn t think they did research at. The negative side is that I am isolated sometimes, but the positive side is that the faculty supports me. 

A strong faculty facilitator and strong faculty support on each participating campus is required for project success. Students need constant monitoring by faculty to ensure timely completion of project assignments. Students also need instruction on how to participate and how to use their scientific voice when... 

Laren Tolbert, Georgia Institute of Technology I ve probably been an administrator too long, which involves indirect costs. You made the comment about faculty supporting all the administrators. But my administration would agree that these are real costs, which they are. William Wakeham talked about a plan in which the full costs were paid, although you never said exactly what your indirect cost rate is. 

To what degree has the pattern of teaching, curricular stability, and service performed by faculty work changed since establishing a relationship with Novartis Has this varied for those faculty supported by Novartis resources ... 

Broad faculty support and involvement / Effort limited to a few core faculty...

Faculty support. This was measured with four items for which students were asked to indicate their agreement with a set of items capturing the types of assistance provided by faculty and staff to help students master knowledge in their discipline and develop creative capacities. An example of an item in this scale was faculty and staff provide students with strong academic and professional role models. (a = 0.76)... 

Over 60% of the 36 bivariate positive correlations among theorized climate measures were at least moderate (.40 < r <. 73), the highest correlation being between Involvement and Faculty Support suggesting that students perceive faculty as being more supportive as faculty involvement in students academic lives increased (figure 5.1). 

Next we determined that the nine theorized climate measures were intercorrelated and that student data could be aggregated. We then conducted a confirmatory factor analysis which yielded nine data-driven factors. We correlated these with the theorized measures to determine if the two sets of measures were related. Except for three factors from the data-driven results that did not distinctively capture specific theorized climate measures, over half (42) of the 81 zero-order correlations were at least moderate (.40 < r < 1.0) indicating that the results of the two factor analyses were comparable. For example. Factor 1 of the data-driven result included Involvement and Faculty Support of the theorized measures. 

Institutional support represents the support and encouragement provided by faculty and staff to students that assists them in their quest to succeed academically, acquire research skills, and achieve professional goals. It also includes resources such as laboratory, tutoring, advising, and other college or university-wide services. Students perceptions of faculty support stem from classroom interactions, office hours, research and lab experiences, and mentoring/advising services. We discuss the extent to which students experienced each of these aspects of support. 

Faculty vs. peers Whose help comes first Students generally feel they must fend for themselves rather than rely on faculty, leading them to value peer support over faculty support. I think the biggest thing that has got me through is just the friends I ve had (FAMU-FSU White male student). When asked where they go for help, almost all students, regardless of race or gender, responded that they would first go to other students before they would seek out help from administrators or faculty ... 

The extent to which students believe faculty members are supportive varied across schools. Students at UF and FIU mention different forms of faculty support and USF and FAMU-FSU students are more conflicted about faculty support. A student at FAMU-FSU notes that a major source of encouragement and support for her is the availabihty of faculty members and their investment of time in students to help them prepare for exams ...
