Fabrics Mothproofing

Uses Manufacture of insecticides (termite control), algicides, herbicides, fungicides, and bactericides wood preservative. Manufacture of pentachlorophenyl laurate to mothproofing fabrics. [Pg.925]

The persistent pyrethroids such as permethrin, cypermethrin, cyfluthrin, and fenvalerate are effective mothproofing agents when applied as spot treatments from ready to use (RTU) formulations. Sodium fluosilicate [16893-85-9] is an effective mothproofing agent used at 0.5 to 0.7% in water solution with 0.3% potassium aluminate and 0.03% oxalic acid, and applied to fabrics by spraying or dipping. It is not removed by dry cleaning. [Pg.305]

Hexahydrate, white, efflorescent, odorless crystals, d 1.788. At about 120 loses SiF4. Soluble in water insol in alcohol. pH of 1% aq soln 3.1. LD orally in guinea pigs 200 mg/kg, Handbook of Toxicology, voL 1, W, S. Spector, Ed. (Saunders, Philadelphia, 1956) pp 180-181-USE For mothproofing of textile fabrics. [Pg.892]

USE Has been credited with opacity to ultraviolet rays and suggested as prophylactic against sunburn, applied as a 5-10% ointment. A soln of the oleate without excess of oleic acid In petr naphtha has been recommended for mothproofing of fabrics. [Pg.1284]

Products and Uses Used for waterproofing, mothproofing, and in laundry products, textiles, canvasses, denims, awnings, and fabrics. [Pg.196]

Over the years, many chemicals have been used as fabric protectants or mothproofers to protect woolens and other keratinous materials against damage by clothes moths or carpet beetles. The substituted phenols, fluoride compounds, sulfonate compounds, and chlorinated hydrocarbon insecticides are some of the chemicals which have been used to protect woolens against insect damage. [Pg.283]

A spray formulation of alkyl dimethyl benzyl ammonium chloride was registered with the Environmental Protection Agency as a mothproofer for woolen fabric including blankets, carpets, clothing, draperies,... [Pg.285]

Registrations for the spray and dyebath applications are pending at EPA. The military is especially interested in the dyebath application as a mothproofer for their large stores of wool and wool/blend fabrics. [Pg.287]

After the production of the gray fabric, especially in the case of raised carpets, a cutting process can follow to confer an even surface to the carpet. Depending on application and material composition, wall-to-wall carpets can also be treated chemically, that is, to make them flame retardant or hardly inflammable, soil-resistant, antistatic, or mothproof. The rear side of the fabric is either covered with a beam material or coated with foam to give the carpet the necessary thickness and therefore provide a better step padding and a good dimensional stability. [Pg.280]
