Extrusion head construction

Designing the extrusion heads construction required selection of polymeric material for casing manufacturing as well as calculation of its dimensions taking into account the outer diameter of steel pipe-line. Polymeric casing is designed for its framing.

Among the magnetostrictive transducers it is more expedient to use those, which in their construction allows them to be used inside the extrusion head. The installation of transducers in the body of the forming tool, reduces the impact of the ultrasonic oscillations on the polymer. 

A survey of extrusion heads for fabrication of profiled plastic items and a study of the rheological performance of melts of polymers in channels when ultrasound was used, was carried out [1]. The construction of a many stream extrusion head for the fabrication of continuous extrusion using ultrasonic oscillations has been produced [2]. 

In order to establish the way in which these various factors influence the performance of the extrusion head, studies were conducted on the flow characteristics of the polymer melts. The effects of the extrusion temperature and pressure were also studied together with the influence of the frequency of the ultrasound and construction of the channel the effectiveness of producing a high elasticity of the spray in the melt and the final properties of the solid produced. 

In blow molding, the die swell ratio is the ratio of the outer parison diameter (or parison thickness) to the outer diameter of the die (or die gap). Die swell ratio is influenced by polymer type, head construction, land length, extrusion speed, and temperature.

Thus, we conclude that the suggested construction of an extrusion head for manufacturing polymeric casing allows producing pipe-line casings with dimensions and quality required. 

Chapter 4 - The description of the construction, the principle of action and calculation method of geometric parameters of extrusion head for granulating to reduced to fragments polymeric waste materials are stated in this work. Experimental data of the process of granulating are described here too. 

Wire and Cable. PVC has been used in wire and cable applications since Wodd War II, when the U.S. Navy demanded lower combustibility materials in construction. These products are manufactured by cross-head extrusion, usually from pellet compounds on single-screw extruders. Some line speeds are 1524 m (5000 ft) per minute (60 mph). The compounds are optimized for the requirements, including low temperature flexibility, high use temperature, especially low combustibility, weatherability, and high resistance to cutthrough. 

The spirally wound tubes were fabricated into manholes by Plastic Constructions Ltd of Birmingham. The base and access platform were made from 25.4 mm thick extruded HOPE sheet.
