Experimental composite

Heterogeneous copolymerization of acrylamide causes redistribution comonomers between phases I and II. This leads to a change of copolymer composition in phases I and II. As a result, the values of ri and change. This accounts for anomalous widening of the experimental composition distribution curves as compared with theoretical curves. [Pg.69]

Cases have been reported where the application of the penultimate model provides a significantly better fit to experimental composition or monomer sequence distribution data. In these copolymerizations raab "bab and/or C BA rBBA- These include many copolymerizations of AN, 4 26 B,"7 MAH28" 5 and VC.30 In these cases, there is no doubt that the penultimate model (or some scheme other than the terminal model) is required. These systems arc said to show an explicit penultimate effect. In binary copolynierizations where the explicit penultimate model applies there may be between zero and three azeotropic compositions depending on the values of the reactivity ratios.31... [Pg.343]

To show you that all this really does work, I ve listed the experimental composition data for the isopropyl/isobutyl alcohol system from Landolt-Bornstein (Landolt-Bomstein is to physical chemistry what Beilstein is to organic. And wouldn t that make for a wild analogy question on the college board entrance exams ), along with my calculated data (Table 2) (That explains my choice of temperatures for Table 1.). I ve also given the absolute and percent differences between the experimental data, and what I ve calculated. These differences are on the order of 1% or less, a very good agreement, indeed. [Pg.299]

The experimental composition data are unequally weighted by the Mayo-Lewis and Fineman-Ross plots with the data for the high or low compositions (depending on the equation used) having the greatest effect on the calculated values of r and r2 [Tidwell and Mortimer, 1965, 1970]. This often manifests itself by different values of r and r2 depending on which monomer is indexed as Mi. [Pg.480]

In order to determine the activity parameters, values of /l5 /2, and I3 must be calculated for each experiment. To accomplish this, only the selectivity kinetics and tf are required. Here tr is calculated from Eq. (12) by using the experimental value of C5- at v= 1. Note that no other experimental compositional data are required. [Pg.216]

The catalysts are prepared as described previously. [6] The templating solution consists of a solution of n-dodecylamine (5.09 g) in aqueous ethanol (53 ml water and 46 ml ethanol). To this is added a total of 0.1 mol silane. The reaction is allowed to proceed for 18 h at room temperature. After filtration and extraction of template with ethanol, the material is filtered and dried. The filtrate from the preparation is generally free of unreacted silanes, indicating that all the silanes are condensed, a fact borne out by the excellent agreement between theoretical and experimental composition. The template and the ethanol can both be recovered pure (the template with 99% efficiency). Both can be reused, as can the templating solution. This means that the process is essentially waste-free[7],... [Pg.276]

Ingredient Preparation. Sensitive ingredients such as nitroglycerin are frequently stored or shipped diluted with a solvent. Before use in an experimental composition, distillation of the solvent and preparation of the material is necessary. [Pg.131]

Composition curves were calculated from the concentration of individual components and plotted as molar composition vs, number of double bonds. Treating the 10 reactions in Scheme I by these simultaneous equations, the best rate constants were obtained from computer plots that best matched the experimental composition patterns. The accuracy of this simulation of the kinetic data is increased by using radioactively labeled intermediates, which provide two sets of kinetic curves with diflFerent initial conditions. By thus doubling the independent experimental measurements, we approach a unique solution by the analog computer. Figure 8 illustrates the results of simulation of the model... [Pg.186]

The characteristic roots are determined by transforming experimental compositions along appropriate reaction paths into the B system of coordinates. Equations (44) and (46) are used to compute the matrix from the matrix X determined from the straight line reaction paths and the equilibrium composition. Each observed composition (<) is transformed by the matrix X into 3(0 [Eq- (40)]- The decay of each 6, with time is given by the set of Eqs. (27) and the value of — X, can be determined from the slope of the straight line obtained from a graph of In bj vs time. [Pg.231]

As explained above (Sect. 7.3), our unfolded state model is very simple. To obtain native-like sequences in the redesigned proteins, an empirical correction is added to the energy function, such that the overall amino acid composition of the computed sequences matches the experimental composition for this class of proteins. We obtained the experimental amino acid composition from the ExPASy Proteomics Server, which is available free of charge via the Internet. Only protein sequences that share a minimum of 35 % sequence identity with the target structures were considered. Computed sequences were obtained with certain amino acid types frozen in their native type alanines, cysteines, prolines and glycines were not mutated, because these amino acids have a particular, strong effect on the local backbone... [Pg.135]
