Expanded metal sheets

Batch units are frequently cylindrical shelf-type dryers equipped with heating and cooling coils or plates. Designs for belter heal input, that is, spikes or expanded metal sheet that penetrate the frozen mass or movable heated shelves compressing the frozen materials, have met with some success. 

The Chemelec cell, Fig. 4(b), uses a fluidized bed of glass spheres as turbulence promoters to improve the mass transport to the electrodes consisting of a series of closely spaced gauze or expanded metal sheet. The residence time and the degree of conversion per pass are relatively low because the flow rate has to exceed the fluidization velocity of the bed. This cell is therefore suitable for pretreatment or recycling operations and is commonly used in the electroplating industry for maintaining a moderate metal ion concentration in a recirculated wash-water tank. 

Cathode. Because iron is an inexpensive material and has a rather small hydrogen overvoltage, iron cathode is generally utilized, in the form of a mesh, perforated plate, or expandable metal sheet.

Methods of manufacturer, (i) Expanded metal, sheet or perforated metal, and wire mesh shall be securely fastened to frame. 

To increase the efficiency for the electrochemical treatment of effluents rotating three-dimensional electrodes were also tested. Thus, a rotating packed bed electrode [44] and a vertically moving particle bed electrode were proposed [45, 46]. Plater barrels were also adapted for the removal of metals [47,48]. An alternative to the ribbed liner, recently introduced, is an expanded metal sheet ( Expamet ) fitted in a recessed bowl. This is now used frequently with success. 

The inclination of the constituent lamellas of the expanded metal sheet leads to spreading of the liquid phase in one dii ion, i. e. to non-imiform distribution over the cross-section of the apparatus. To reduce this effect every next sheet is oriented so that the inclination of each two neighbour sheets is opposite. Another possible arrangement of foe sheets is when foe inclination of every second sheet is opposite and foe long axes of foe packing orifices for foe neighbour sheets are oriented at 90° (cross arran mont). 

From the figure it is seen that the data for packings with equal hydraulic diamet lie on one and the same line. It must be mentioned also that the packings with cross arrangement of the expanded metal sheets permit about... 

The consist K depends on the type of arrangement of the expanded metal sheets. In case of countercurrent arrai ement it is equal to 0.82. At cre arrangement JT=0.95.

Because the Holpack packing consists of horizontal expanded metal sheets, its hei t can be changed only stepwise. That is why the detest greater height of the packing ual of 0.77 mm is accepted.
