Many examples of insertions of internal alkynes are known. Internal alkynes react with aryl halides in the presence of formate to afford the trisubstituted alkenes[271,272]. In the reaction of the terminal alkyne 388 with two molecules of iodobenzene. the first step is the formation of the phenylacetylene 389. Then the internal alkyne bond, thus produced, inserts into the phenyl-Pd bond to give 390. Finally, hydrogenolysis with formic acid yields the trisubstituted alkene 391(273,274], This sequence of reactions is a good preparative method for trisubstituted alkenes from terminal alkynes. [Pg.181]

Attempts at the carbonylation of CpCr(NO)2Me in hexane or THF at reflux resulted only in recovery of the nitrosylalkyl (105). A recent report of the reaction between CpCr(CO)3Me and L [L = PPhj, P(p-CjH40Me)3, and PMejPh] to yield trawi-CpCr(CO)2L(COMe) furnishes the first example of insertion of CO into Cr—C bonds (19b). [Pg.118]

The platinum(0) complex [Pt(PhNO)(PPh3)2] reacts with C02 to afford the metallacyclic nitroso species [Pt 0N(Ph)C(0)0 (PPh3)2] (60), the first example of insertion of C02 into a Pt—N bond.186 Other unsaturated carbon compounds such as CS2 and electrophilic alkenes and alkynes react similarly. The diradical peril uoro-/V,/V -dimethylethane-l,2-bis(amino-oxyl) reacts readily by oxidative addition to the platinum(0) precursor Pt(PPh3)4 to afford the corresponding platinum(lI)-nitroso complex containing a seven-membered chelate ring (61). The resulting complex is stable in air for several days at room temperature.187... [Pg.698]

In the infant chemistry of iminoboranes only one example of insertion into a bridge position has been found [Eq. (56)] (86). That the structure of the product [Eq. (56)] corresponds to structure Xlla has been deduced from the CO absorption bands in the IR spectra, which... [Pg.165]

Group IV Donors. The preparation of the complexes c/s-[Ru(CNEt)2(APh3)2-(SnCljlCl] (A = P, As, or Sb) for the treatment of c/.s-[Ru(CNEt)2(APh3)2Cl2] with SnCl2, provides another example of insertion of SnCK into a M—Cl bond. The structure (22) was proposed from i.r. data. ... [Pg.366]

The major intermolecular reaction of triplet aryl nitrenes in solution is hydrogen atom abstaction to form primary amines. For a photoaffinity reagent bound to a receptor, this would result in a failure to couple. However, it is possible that the intramolecular photochemistry of aryl azides is more relevant, and here numerous examples of insertion by triplets have been noted. Presumably, these are two step processes hydrogen atom abstraction, followed by radical coupling (cf. Figs. 2.1 and 2.3). [Pg.32]

Some molecules that will undergo insertion reactions are CO, SnCl2, S02, R-NC, C2H4, and (CN)2C=C(CN)2. The following equations show examples of insertion reactions ... [Pg.488]

Further examples of insertion into Si—N bonds have been found in the reactions of HFA with dimethylaminotrimethylsilane, phenylaminotri-methylsilane (2), azidotrimethylsilane (7, 270), and bis(trimethylsilyl)carbo-diimide 102). All products show the insertion of HFA only in one of the Si—N bonds. [Pg.226]

Some representative examples of insertion or group transfer reactions are given in Table 21-2. [Pg.1208]

The first example of insertion of NO into a cluster metal-alkyl bond has recently been reported in compound (44) (224). [Pg.356]

A successful example of insertion reactions in the synthesis of N-bridged compounds is the Rh2(OAc)4-catalyzed decomposition of /3-lactams 705, which was employed as a key step in the synthesis of several anti-Bredt /3-lactams with nitrogen in the bridgehead (86JA6431 89JA1073). [Pg.203]

Insertion into element-hydrogen bonds tend to be less favored thermodynamically than insertions into other bonds (e.g., element-carbon). This is often attributed to the high element-hydride bond strength, which is lost upon insertion. Since the insertion reaction is also entropically disfavored, the reverse deinsertion of the unsaturated moiety to generate an element-hydride bond can be thermodynamically favored. When the hydride exists in the P position of the inserted product, this process is commonly referred to as /S-hydride elimination. Nevertheless, there are many examples of insertions into element-hydride bonds that generate stable compounds, and when this insertion reaction is an uphill process, chelation to the element or subsequent chemistry (i.e., catalytic cycles) can be employed to facilitate the initial insertion step. [Pg.553]

The great importance of group VIII complexes in homogeneous catalysis has focused more attention on their insertion chemistry, but the number of authenticated insertions of monoalkenes into M-H bonds is small. Insertions of dienes and allenes are more numerous because of the greater thermodynamic stability of the product xt-allyl complexes. Some examples of insertions of complexes of group VIII are listed in Table... [Pg.566]

A number of examples of insertion of CO2, CS2, and COS into transition metal hydride bonds have been reported. Well-defined reactions from groups IVA or VA are... [Pg.576]

A rare example of insertion of CO into a later transition metal-hydride bond is the reaction of (OEP)RhH to give (OEP)RhCHO (OEP = octaethylporphyrin. This reaction is believed to occur by a free radical chain mechanism. [Pg.589]

A few examples of insertion of activated alkenes into M-Si bonds are known. For example, tetrafluoroethylene inserts into a Mn-Si bond under the influence of UV radiation (equation 73)210. [Pg.1447]

In all cases where copolymer is formed, the product gives a single GPC peak, showing that it is not admixed with an independently formed homopolymer. The ability to form copolymers by ADMET reactions of unsaturated homopolymers with a diene monomer is not confined to system 1 and is probably quite general. For an example of insertion of hydrocarbon units into an unsaturated polysiloxane, see Smith, D.W. (1993a). [Pg.170]

Eewer data are available regarding activation parameters and rates for insertion of alkenes or alkynes into M-ER bonds, compared to the information reported for insertions into M-C bonds. However there are good examples of insertion and )S-ER elimination reactions (Eq. 6.31), most of them, but not all, involving M-Si bonds. [Pg.353]

Clear cut examples of insertion of alkenes into M-SiRa bonds have been reported for complexes of Zr [180], Fe [181], Ru [182], Co [183], Pd [184] and some of these insertion processes are reversible [181,182,184], Insertion of a vinyl silane into the Ru-H bond of [RuCl(CO)H(PPh3)3] and yS-SiRs elimination explains the formation of the ruthenium silyl. The reaction can be reversed in the presence of excess ethylene (Scheme 6.58) [182],... [Pg.354]
