Ever tumor

In long-term feeding experiments, DEHP and related phthalates also led to an increase of liver tumors in rodents. DEHP also caused embryotoxic and teratogenic effects in mice, DOP did neither exert testicular toxicity in vivo nor significant peroxisome proliferation in the liver. It was shown to be a Ever tumor promoter in a rat feeding experiment. 

The hazards of chemicals are commonly detected in the workplace first, because exposure levels there are higher than in the general environment. In addition, the exposed population is well known, which allows early detection of the association between deleterious health effects and the exposure. The toxic effects of some chemicals, such as mercury compounds and soot, have been known already for centuries. Already at the end of the eighteenth century, small boys who were employed to climb up the inside of chimneys to clean them suffered from a cancer of the scrotum due to exposure to soot. This was the first occupational cancer ever identified. In the viscose industry, exposure to carbon disulfide was already known to cause psychoses among exposed workers during the nineteenth century. As late as the 1970s, vinyl chloride was found to induce angiosarcoma of the liver, a tumor that was practically unknown in ocher instances. ... 

Palytoxin isolated from zoanthids Palythoa spp. is known to be extremely lethal (0.5 fig/kgy mouse, i.p.) and to have the most complicated natural product structure (Figure 4) ever elucidated (13,14). The toxin was later revealed to be a potent tumor promoter (15). Yet, health risks due to the toxin have remained unclear, as the zoathids are the most unlikely organisms to be regarded as foodstuff. Recently, however, data are being compiled to indicate the wide distribution of this toxin among marine biota. 

Although food additives have been blamed for a variety of ills, including epileptic seizures, brain tumors, and even criminal behavior, only a few of the approximately 2,800 food additives used in the United States have ever been directly linked to adverse events. New food additives undergo extensive safety testing prior to approval, and existing additives suspected of causing health...

After confirming these results I contacted G. Zubrod, head of the chemotherapy branch of the National Cancer Institute and apprized him of the results. I was invited to discuss this with his associates at Bethesda, Maryland. After my short lecture, which was received with perceptible, but understandable coolness, I left samples of the four complexes to be tested in their tumor screen, the L1210 leukemia in mice. A few months later I was informed that the complexes were also active in their system, and it was suggested to me that a grant proposal to pursue this research would not be unfavorably received. A proposal was duly submitted, and approved, and NCI support has continued ever since. 

When I was a teenager, I had an infection on my leg and I went to a dermatologist with a brand new X-ray machine. He cured the leg but than he said, you have some acne on your face, why don t I cure that too So he gave me X-ray treatment for that. It was fairly early in X-ray treatment, and the doses were very large. Then about 15 years later, tumors began to show up, and they have kept growing, and I have two or three a year that have to be removed. Don t ever let your kids have X-ray treatment unless it s absolutely critical. 

Tumor-inducing effects have been much discussed ever since the introduction of the H2 receptor antagonists but their existence has not been clearly established. The discussion was seeded by ... 

Of the 255 patients used for the revised application, 28 (11 percent) were classified as partial responders, meaning that their tumors had shrunk by half or more, and existing lesions had not expanded in size. FDA officials were convinced by this measure of Proleukin s efficacy. They even reproduced Chiron s data in their Summary for Basis of Approval Seven of the 28 partial responders and none of the complete responders were symptomatic from their disease (PS=i) at study entry. Of these seven patients, one returned to baseline after therapy and the other six became asymptomatic (PS=o). 18 Between the ECOG status and uncertainties in how to define partial and "complete responses, proof of efficacy, now more than ever, required patient assessment and communication between physicians and patients in the clinical trial. Furthermore, the company and FDA officials had to negotiate appropriate measures of efficacy and how to scale data from various tests. 

Peroxide may be the greatest breakthrough we ve ever had for brain tumors. Surgery destroys brain tissue, and chemotherapy for brain neoplasms is just plain quackery. Neuroblastoma cells, a virulent brain cancer, were inhibited by H202 in lab experiments.3...
