Appendix A5.1. European (EN) Adhesive Test Methods and Specifications 

Until fairly recently, each European country used to publish their own test methods and specifications. Thus, DTD specifications came from the UK, FN from France, LN from Germany, etc. This situation has now been unified with the production of EN or prEN (provisional) specifications the actual designation often being slightly changed to indicate country of publication. Thus BS EN XXXX would emanate from the UK (BS being British Standard). 

Test methods for structural adhesives and foaming adhesives are covered by the mother specifications EN 2243 and prEN 2667, respectively. 

From EN 2642 onwards, a new format has been introduced. At the top level are the Technical Specifications (the mother documents). All other documents are intended to cascade down from these, i.e. the Material Specifications and finally the Test Method documentation
