1- ethylamine alcohols

Lithium ethylamine Alcohols from oxido compounds... [Pg.380]

Ethylamine, monoethylamine, CH3CH2NH2-B.p. 19 C. Prepared by reduction of acetonitrile or by heating ethyl chloride with alcoholic ammonia under pressure. It is a strong base and will displace ammonia from ammonium salts. Forms a crystalline hydrochloride and also crystalline compounds with various metallic chlorides. [Pg.166]

Certain dibasic acids, of which the sodiuna or potassiuna salts are sparingly osluble in dilute alcohol, cause difficulty these should be neutralised with ethylamine solution. [Pg.363]

Synthesis of (A) started with the combination of 2,4,6-trimethylphenol and allyl bromide to give the or/Ao-allyl dienone. Acid-catalyzed rearrangement and oxidative bydroboration yielded the dienone with a propanol group in porlactone ring were irons in the product as expected (see p. 275). Treatment with aqueous potassium hydroxide gave the epoxy acid, which formed a crystalline salt with (R)-l-(or-naphthyl)ethylamine. This was recrystallized to constant rotation. [Pg.319]

Note The pre- and post-treatment of the chromatograms with the basic tri-ethylamine solution, which can be replaced by an alcoholic solution of sodium hydroxide [1,4] or a phosphate buffer solution pH = 8.0 (c = 0.2 mol/1) [5], serves to stabilize the fluorescence of the amino derivatives [2]. A final spraying with methanolic hydrochloric acid (chci = 5 mol/1) or 70% perchloric acid renders the detection reaction highly specific for histamine [4] and for catecholamines and indolamines [5]. [Pg.296]

D) 4 -[N-Ethyi-1 "-Methyl-2 -(4" -Methoxyphenyl)Ethylamino]Butyi-3,4-Dimethoxybenzoate Hydrochloride 10.3 g of 4 -iodobutyl-3,4-dimethoxybenzoate and 11.0 g of N-ethyl-p-methoxyphenylisopropylamine (obtained by catalytic reduction of an alcoholic solution of an excess quantity (60%) of p-methoxy-phenyl-acetone, to which was added a 33% (weight-for-weight) aqueous solution of ethylamine, with Pt as a catalyst), were boiled in 200 ml of methyl ethyl ketone for 20 hours, cooled and the iodine ion was determined the reaction was found to be complete. Then the methyl ethyl ketone was evaporated in vacuo and the residue was dissolved in 300 ml of water and 30 ml of ether the layers were separated and the water layer was extracted twice more with 20 ml portions of ether. [Pg.901]

Fig. 7-6). Two unichiral amides which have been known capable of this reaction are 1-phenylethylamine [15] and l-(l-naphthyl)ethylamine [16]. Marfey s reagent [N-a-(2,4-dinitro-5-fluorophenyl)-L-alaninamide] was introduced as a reagent to deriva-tize amino acids with cyclopentane, tetrahydroisoquinoline or tetraline structures [17]. Simple chiral alcohols such as 2-octanol can also be used to derivatize acids such as 2-chloro-3-phenylmethoxypropionic acid [18]. [Pg.190]

Give the molecular formulas of (a) ethyl alcohol and (b) ethylamine. [Pg.35]

Solanesol and other prenyl alcohols are important as metabolites in mulberry and tobacco leaves and in the synthesis of isoprenoid quinones. Hence, Sato and collaborators107 have developed a stereoselective synthesis of all-trans-polyprenol alcohols up to C50. Construction of the requisite skeletons was accomplished by the alkylation of a p-toluenesulphonyl-stabilized carbanion, followed by reductive desulphonylation of the resulting allylic sulphonyl group. This was achieved most efficiently by the use of a large excess of lithium metal in ethylamine (equation (43)), although all reaction conditions led to mixtures. The minor product results from double bond rearrangement. [Pg.945]

Preparation of the quaternary anticholinergic agent benzilonium bromide (47) is begun by conjugate addition of ethylamine to methylacrylate, giving aminoester 42. Alkylation of 42 with methyl bromo-acetate leads to diester 43, which is transformed into pyrrolidone 44 by Dieckmann cyclization, followed by decarboxylation. Reduction of 44 by lithium aluminum hydride leads to the corresponding amino-alcohol (45). Transesterification of alcohol 45 with methyl benzilate leads to 46. Benzilonium bromide (47) is obtained by alkylation of ester 46 with ethyl bromide. 2... [Pg.72]

Polymers containing pendant carbamate functional groups can be prepared by the reaction of phenyl isocyanate with poly(vinyl alcohol) in homogeneous dimethylsulfoxide solutions using a tri-ethylamine catalyst. These modified polymers are soluble in dimethyl sulfoxide, dimethylacetamide, dimethylformamide and formic acid but are insoluble in water, methanol and xylene. Above about 50% degree of substitution, the polymers are also soluble in acetic acid and butyrolactone. The modified polymers contain aromatic, C = 0, NH and CN bands in the infrared and show a diminished OH absorption. Similar results were noted in the NMR spectroscopy. These modified polymers show a lower specific and intrinsic viscosity in DMSO solutions than does the unmodified poly(vinyl alcohol) and this viscosity decreases as the degree of substitution increases. [Pg.99]

Results of the reduction of unsaturated alcohols depend on the respective positions of the hydroxyl and the double bond. Since the hydroxyl group is fairly resistant to hydrogenolysis by catalytic hydrogenation almost any catalyst working under mild conditions may be used for saturation of the double bond with conservation of the hydroxyl [608]. In addition, sodium in liquid ammonia and lithium in ethylamine reduced double bonds without affecting the hydroxyl in non-allylic alcohols [608]. [Pg.77]

AUylic ethers were reduced by treatment with lithium in ethylamine to alkenes [636]. Benzyl ethers are hydrogenolyzed easily, even more readily than benzyl alcohols [637], 3,5-Bis(benzyloxy)benzyl alcohol gave 3,5-dihydroxy-benzyl alcohol on hydrogenation over palladium on carbon at room temperature and atmospheric pressure in quantitative yield [638. Hydrogenolysis of benzylic ethers can also be achieved by refluxing the ether with cyclohexene (as a source of hydrogen) in the presence of 10% palladium on carbon in the presence of aluminum chloride [639]. [Pg.82]
