Acetylcholine esterase-catalyzed hydrolyses have been reported only for a small number of prochiral diacetates (Table 11.1-8). Carboxylesterases and amidases catalyze hydrolysis of carboxy esters and carboxy amides to the corresponding carboxylic acids and alcohols or amines.
