ESSENTIAL UNINTERRUPTIBLE POWER SUPPLY SYSTEM

We are living in a highly technologized environment. Thus the constant supply of energy is essential for many applications. Especially IT and communication technology is essential for processes, workflows and business transactions. Also the increasing demand for public safety results in continuously running equipment for control and information systems or security surveillance. In order to support this backbone of our daily life, critical infrastructures are quite often equipped with an uninterruptable power supply (UPS). Fuel cells can already be used for such applications. [Pg.145]

One solution to this problem is to protect precious software systems with an uninterruptible power supply (UPS). A UPS is essentially a battery supply electronically modified to provide a clean and secure a.c. supply. The UPS is plugged into the mains supply and the computer systems are plugged into the UPS. [Pg.239]

The assessment of the consequential effects of a pipe whip event has been addressed separately under internal flood, water spray, steam leakage, etc. Those systems designated essential for safe shutdown in the event of pipe rupture are the reactor coolant system, the steam generator system, the passive cooling system, the protection and safety monitoring system. Class 1 dc, the uninterruptible power supply, main control room and habitability system, contaimnent penetrations and isolation valves. [Pg.82]

Air transport batteries provide the ground power supplies and also the support battery systems on board aircraft. Also, at the airport, all the essential lighting and communication relies on the batteries. In this method of working, the system will operate in the standby mode, giving uninterrupted power supply on mains failure. [Pg.380]
