Impact and Erosion. Impact involves the rapid appHcation of a substantial load to a relatively small area. Most of the kinetic energy from the impacting object is transformed into strain energy for crack propagation. Impact can produce immediate failure if there is complete penetration of the impacted body or if the impact induces a macrostress in the piece, causing it to deflect and then crack catastrophically. Failure can also occur if erosion reduces the cross section and load-bearing capacity of the component, causes a loss of dimensional tolerance, or causes the loss of a protective coating. The compound was also known in France before WW1I under the name Nitropentaglycerin and Bur lot and Thomas (Ref 2) detd its heat of combustion. The Germans learned about Metriolo before WWII, and, recognizing its merits as a flash and erosion-reducing agent, started to manuf it. The method employed by I.G. The problem of soil erosion into waterways has been correctly termed our most present form of water pollution (Pimental et al, 1995). Soil erosion reduces water quality and disrupts agricultural sustainability. 

Crop residue application can prevent erosion, reduce nutrient losses, stimulate microbial activity in the rhizosphere, improve soil structure and increase the yield of subsequent crops (Schlecht et al., 2006). It may contribute to SOM build-up, but rapid breakdown due to synchrony of high temperature and moist soil during the rainy season(s), together with termite activity, limits residual effects in savannah areas. Mulching with 2 t ha 1 of crop residue, the rate most frequently used on experimental plots, resulted in yield increases from less than 10% to manifold, depending on crop, management, soil and climate (e.g. Schlecht et al., 2006).

Women produce less estrogen after menopause. Estrogen inhibits calcium loss and bone erosion. Reduced estrogen levels result in more rapid calcium and bone loss. Do not pinch on the horsepower valves. They must be left completely opened or firmly closed. Leaving them in a partially open position will badly damage the valve seats by erosion, reduce the efficiency of the turbine, and make it impossible to close the valves in the future.
