Ergonomics certification

By definition, accreditation in the safety (certification) field is the process of independently assuring a certification meets a minimum set of national standards. The standards go beyond technical requirements and ensure that the examination is fair, properly developed, and administrated. Tables 25-2 and 25-3 provide information about accrediting organizations and the approximate number of safety and health, environmental, and ergonomics certification programs that are accredited.

Standardisation came about as lessous were learnt (both in certification processes as well as from unfortunate incidents and accidents). The guidance surrounding ergonomics thus became more extensive and prescriptive (e.g. standardisation of warning cues position of key displays within a cone of view, etc.) In his paper on Cockpit Ergononucs, Harris et al. The health and safety of workers continues to be a primary concern for employers. The job opportunities for persons interested in ergonomics are varied and depend on the role desired. As with other professions, some jobs require formal education, while others provide on-the-job training. Other jobs require certification or special training in the area of interest.
