Typically, the conventional power conversion components of a plant include dynamic machinery and numerous active control mechanisms. It will be nearly impossible to avoid planned periodic maintenance on this equipment. Even though it might be desirable to simplify and reduce the staff and infi astructure needed for this portion of the plant, the technical expertise and infirastructure required for effective maintenance and operation of these systems could be shared with that needed by other, more conventional power-generating systems the developing counhy will also have.
