Enzymatically active allergens

Progress in functional genomics is related to combining its methods with applications for automatic analysis of protein enzymatic activity and occurrence, accompanied by detection of protein products by means of 2D electrophoresis and mass spectrometry. This will enable detection of mRNA and protein as gene expression product, as well as comprehensive research of the relationship between genetic polymorphism, and individual and environmental factors (such as allergen or treatment exposure). 

In addition to interacting with cells in the respiratory system, it is also possible that allergens interact with a variety of acellular components within the respiratory tract owing to electrostatic properties, enzymatic activity, or carbohydrate content. For example, basic proteins bind to the sialic acid-rich mucins present in high concentration in respiratory secretions owing to electrostatic interactions...

In the preparation of semisynthetic cephalosporins, the following improvements are sought (a) increased acid stability, (b) improved pharmacokinetic properties, particularly better oral ab.sorption, ic) broadened antimicrobial spectrum. (d) increased activity agaiast resistant microorganisms (as a result of resistance to enzymatic destruction, improved penetration. increased receptor affinity, etc.), (e) decreased allergenicity, and (f) increased tolerance after parenteral administration.
